GOOD NEWS!

I know I'm a worry wort, so I should have known it would all be OK. Lola came back Heartworm Negative! I almost cried harder in joy about that than I did when they were trying to take her blood. Took 3 syringes and both front legs to get it done.

We found out she DOES have Hook Worms, but that seems to be easy to treat. Three packets of medication over 3 days and then her heartworm/intestinal worm/flea preventative. All in all, a VERY healthy girl!

She has a…

dealing with a rescue that has a history of physical abuse

I would appreciate any feedback or help regarding my little Gryffin.

I rescued Gryffin who is an 8 year old corgi from someone that works at my vets office.  I lost my 12 year old female corgi to cancer very suddenly in late July.  A short time after I lost Annie, the worker talked to me about possibly taking little Gryffin from her and see if he would get along with my male corgi Jake.  They are both pretty easy going neutered males.

Gryffin has a past histoy…

The amazing strength of corgis

A friend of mine regularly takes her German Shepard, Mila, walking on some trails locally. She used to go with another friend with her Pitt Bull, but the dog was diagnosed with arthritis. Since she didn't want to go by herself, Camden & I got an invite.

I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised how well Camden has taken to hiking. On our normal walks, which are maybe 20 to 30 mins long, he'll lay down and force me to stop or even pick him up to take him home. Tonight we hiked for…

One week later

Lola seems to have adjusted fairly well to the family! I'm a little anxious for tomorrow. I emailed back and forth with Lola's foster mommy and found out a little bit more about her background. Apparently she was more of a stray than a "puppy mill" dog like we were told. It doesn't lessen our love for her, but it does concern me a little bit. We have a vet appointment tomorrow morning for a basic checkup and for her heartworm test. I wasn't worried about this before now, but I'm getting…

Putting Ace back on kibble :-(

Ace is a wonderful dog, but he has always had a huge problem of guarding his raw dinner from other animals. At one point it had vanished, and he was able to share a meaty bone with the cats. He's never guarded from humans, and I am very thankful for that. I've hand-fed him from the start, and I think it has paid off - I can pick the food right out of his mouth and he won't say a thing.

But now, his guarding against other animals is back full force, and what's worse is that his…

new future puppy update!!!!

Yes, Star is very pregnant.  We found 8 puppies on the ultrasound, but sometimes all 8 do not make it to term.  However, Star is getting very big, so I am hoping for a fairly large litter.  We have scheduled her section for Nov. 9th

so now we're looking at puppy on the horizon to be born nov. 9th and we could take it home around feb. 1!!!!

so, there's precious…

Overbite anyone?

Our Wylie has a pretty significant overbite or malocclusion as the dentist would say, anyone else out there with the same issue?

Unfortunately, our guy's OB is so significant there is damage being done to his upper palate by his deciduous canines!  I am taking him to the hospital tomorrow morning to have them extracted, then once his permanent teeth are in we have two possible options on dealing with them.  Neither is pleasant or inexpensive but we will do whatever we must to keep…

Welcome home, Lola!

I must say, I thought I would have made this sooner, but new dogs really do make you wonder "where did all my time go?"

Brian and I brought Lola (formerly known as Sweet Pea to the lovely ladies at the Blue Moon Sanctuary in Camdenton, MO) home from her foster family on Friday last week. It was wonderful to get to spend the weekend with her and get to know her.…

♫Flea Problems and Remedies.... Help!♫

Has your corgi ever had fleas? Daisy got some last weekend and was itching herself everywhere! We bought a flea shampoo and applied to her a couple times and the fleas went bye bye. I was wondering what remedies you have discovered that work best for your doggie. I have heard Dawn diah soap works... I was wondering who knows if Frontline is a good anti-flea medicine or not. Does anyone know if the black dots in your dogs fur are flea poop or eggs? That would help. :)

My puppy does not like wasps now.

Tonight scared the living daylights out of me.

I went outside after Peiko was making quite a fuss at the glass door, so I decided to let him go out, it didn't take me long to find out why, it turns out he was dead set on a grounded possibly dying wasp. And he went after it, he quickly backed away and started rolling his nose in the grass. I was fairly certain that he was stung somewhere on the nose.

Unlike my other puppy who is not even 4 pounds was stung by one…

An Update...after so long!

I had no idea it had been so long since I had been on MyCorgi! I have been kept so busy with gardening and...yes...the two little guys. They are such a delight and are growing so quickly. They were seven months old last week. They have been really good. We have been house-trained for some time now...no accidents or slip-ups. We are, however, still learning not to chew rugs! :-)…

Fun Facts About Dog Evolution.

I was reading a book on how the wolf became the dog... There were some pretty cool facts there. Did you know that wolves did not bark? Those early people singled out the ones who liked barking and claimed them valuable and bred them. Go figure. xD Because we mostly want out doggies to shut up....   ...The early people also bred their dogs to smile. They though it looked funny in dogs so thats why you see more dogs with smile wrinkles/dimples today when they pant. It is just…

The quality of this photo could obviously be better, but it's still entertaining.  After all, it does star a Corgi.

Lady and the Ace - @ Two Weeks

This morning, Lady graciously celebrated the two week mark of living with us by taking a massive, pungent dump just to the side of the bed as I slept. All the blame goes to my husband, who thought it would be a good idea to not inform me that she had yet to poop in the A.M., and then let her roam freely in the bedroom while he went off to work. I won't soon forget the smell (compounded by the fact that I had thrown up my innards the night before thanks to eating…
