Fun day at the Vet.

Today, my girlfriend took Cyber for his once a week acupuncture treatment at our local vets office. After Cyber's weight was taken, she turned around to put him back in his wheelchair and he was gone. She heard wild laughter coming from the receptionist's area so she ran out to find Cyber, scooting along the floor at warp speed, heading for the exit. He didn't want the acupuncture treatment today and escape was on his mind. She told me about this escapade when I got home from work and everytime… Continue

That New England weather

Spider was born and raised in northern California... up until early 2006, he'd never seen snow, much less dealt with temperatures below 40 or so degrees. So, I'm still rather amazed that he adjusted so perfectly to the winter weather and ground cover of Massachusetts upon arriving here to live with me again... Even I'm still getting used to it, after more than 5 years of living here!

He actually seems to like the snow, for the most part. He hates rain because it makes his paws wet and… Continue

Emmy's First Lesson

I guess I didn' realize how lucky we were when we got Sage as a puppy. Or at least I don't remember her being "bad".

Thank the Lord that the place we purchased Emmy from provides free training for life (and even for the other dogs in the house). They happened to call us yesterday to check and see how Emmy was adjusting and we mentioned that she was having some behavioral issues. By this point I had already started reading the books by Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer (given to… Continue

Scout's New Home

We drove two hours there and back to pick up my puppy. I call him Scout. We're still in the process of house training him. We're mostly using the crate training method.

He sure loves the snow. I took him out back to play and he was jumping all around. I didn't want him to get too cold, so I brought him in when he started to slow down.

He should be in his crate now, if my mom isn't playing with him.

Scout is a 3 1/2 month old male tri-color Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

I have some… Continue

Winston's first night at the Vet

There comes a time in every dogs life where they must be neutered or spayed... And yesterday was that time for poor little Win! After a sad goodbye, I dropped him off at the vet clinic before heading to work (and after a nice snowstorm which added quite a bit of time to our trip). He looked terrified but I knew my little boy would make it. I can't tell you how quiet it was in the apartment last night... Even Venus (my roommate's dog) was depressed. This morning, I woke up at 10 till 9:00 AM and… Continue

The Puppy Trials

It seems that Emmy is going to be a hard one to train. She is definintely quite a handful. I know it has only been a week, but it seems like forever and she is still nipping and biting with her razor sharp puppy teeth, picking up random things and running with them, looking for trouble as soon as I turn my back, and just overall not listening.

I know all of this is normal. But I don't remember having this much trouble with Sage. We had her sleeping in the bed the first night we… Continue

It really is like having a child.

As most of you know, after joining the group a month or so later I had to move away down to DC. Jobs up in Vermont were few or not paying enough to stay where we settled for the time. So it was sorta forced before I went completely bankrupt.

In the event I allowed Chris to keep Roxi to keep him company and knowing that the home I was moving to had a dog that wouldn't get along with her.

A few months later and I'm feeling the harsh pangs of missing her dearly. I wonder if… Continue

Someone got into the chocolate!!

I must be a neglectful owner...I forgot a bag of Ghiradelli dark chocolate singles on the floor the other night, and came home from work the next day to find the bag empty and a torn-open wrapper nearby! Thankfully, there was only one square left, and Junebug seemed to be fine, if only a little more hyper than usual. I don't know what effect caffine has on dogs, but I swear she was on super-charge mode all night long. I'll be careful not to leave goodies around anymore!

you will never believe this guy (its long sorry... i'm pissed)

Does everyone know what parvo is? It’s a dog killer. If your dog gets parvo it has a 50/50 chance of living. It’s an intestinal disease, or sometimes in young puppies it’s a heart disease. But for most dogs it’s an intestinal disease where it eats the lining. The dog will become lethargic and depressed, it will stop eating but it will start throwing up, it will lose weight, have diarrhea and…

Scout

This is Scout, my future dog. We're picking him up December 8th. Isn't he just the cutest thing?

I have everything I need for him. A crate, food, treats, various dog toys, a bed, bowls, a collar, a leash, a brush (coming in the mail), etc. I'm sure he's going to love it here. Maybe I can train him to herd the cats...Just kidding. XD

Waiting...

Waiting can be hard. Especially when you're waiting for your new pet. I get my Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Scout, on December 8th. He's just an adorable little tri-colored guy.

I have been waiting, saving money and making plans for a corgi for over two years. I wonder why it feels like those two years went by faster than six days will go by.

Well, have a Merry Christmas, everyone!
