Teething 4.5 month old

Benny has lost almost all of his front teeth. He is eating breakfast but not dinner he will only chew chew chew. He is also acting kind of sad. Is this due to teething? Is he in pain?

The Tall Advantages of Short Legs

My son's English golden retriever, Charley, has been boarding with me and Cassie during work hours for the past two days.

At about two, Charley still has some puppy manners. Oh, what the heck. Let's just admit it: this is a beast for whom "training" has never been a very operative term. One of his favorite antics is counter-surfing. Meanwhile, it's worth noting that my son is truly a great cook, and that he likes to entertain his friends with wonderful…

My day from hell!

Tank my Corgi mix decided to chase jack rabbits after I left him out today:( He usually stays in the yard but hasn't been out in a week due to below zero temps. He decides to run to the grove across the road and get lost(?) for over 8 hours. I went out hourly and he didn't come. Finally right before dark he came running and limping. No collar and scratches on his nose and a…

When It's Too Cold for a Corgi...

...it's C-O-O-L-D!!!

Cassie is not among the some who like it hot. And where we live, it gets mighty hot -- 118 is not uncommon. So when we go for a walk during the late spring, summer, and early fall, it's after dark or before dawn, and even then when it's very warm, she pooples out after a block or two.

But once the weather cools into the 60s and low 70s...ahhhh! Dog joy. Then she can go and go and go.

I have to walk a mile a day -- preferably…

Lots of shakes and not enough Z's

I have started to notice a problem with Lola's bed time habits. Now she sleeps in bed with me mainly because I have a big enough bed, love her company, and don't mind my own personal space heater at night. However, lately I have been waking up to a strange sensation every morning at about 5:45-6:00. Now, in my half asleep state I realize that Lola is wide awake shaking like crazy, like she's terrified of something. She shakes so hard, and so far I just can't get her to stop.

I'm worried… Continue

Puppy playing rough, never settles down

My 13 week old little guy goes absolutely crazy when he sees and interacts with other dogs. He's mostly fine with humans (he tries to jump up, but is fairly good about not biting).

He will bark non-stop at the other dog (30+ minutes straight if you let him) and repeatedly tries to jump on top of them, bite them, and chases them everywhere.

He never "settles down" and will continue to antagonize the other dogs. Even if the other dog tries to put him in his…

DREAMS COME TRUE

IT HAPPENED!!!

I was just confirmed to pick up my dream dog just after Christmas. A week ago I found these puppies from this https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/dbOJb fundraiser for Willa, a corgi rescue who was pregnant. THEIR TAILS WEREN'T DOCKED. They were in California. It was too good to be true.  I found them hours before the application deadline for a puppy closed and fought the good fight to get one. I was just confirmed and my…

10 yr, female corgi needs forever home - no other dogs or children

Hi everyone - I haven't been on this site for a long time, however, I have a friend who needs to find a home for a 10 yr female corgi who hadn't adjusted to a new baby in the family.  This is sad, however, the corgi lived a live as the only companion to a woman for 5 yrs, then she married, and the corgi lost her position but was still a loved member of the pair, now a baby enters the world and the the corgi is 10yrs and has snapped (reason unknown) at the baby.  This sort of thing often…

Will Wally react to the scent of his father???

I got Wally when he was a bit over 9 weeks of age.   Now he just turned 1 year old and I wanted to do a little experiment with him.   I called the breeder, who's 3 provinces away, and asked her if she could send me something of his father's.   She thought he might not reconize his father but rather just intregued at the smell of another dog.

But curious herself she decided to put a toy in his kennel for about a week and then ship it to me.

I'll film Wally's reaction…

Sudden trouble walking

It's been a really long time since I posted, but could use some help.

This past weekend, Camber had difficulty walking. It started when I looked over to where she was sitting and it looked like she was having some sort of spasm. I went over, touched her, and it felt like all her muscles were quivering. I stood her up and she sort of just quivered then collapsed on the ground. I put her on the kitchen table and started rubbing her legs and back and she didn't flinch or yelp or…
