corgi nipping help

Hello,

I am new to my corgi, and I am hoping I am posting this in the right place.

Long story short, I have a 13 week old puppy and while she does learn pretty quickly, she is also stubborn! The biggest problem we are having is getting her to stop attacking our feet and ankles especially when we are walking. It really hurts, and the tradition techniques of trying to swap a toy out or yelling "ouch!" aren't working. This is especially distressing to my husband who fears…

Possible Resource Guarding Issues

Hello everyone! Bandit is doing fantastic (can't believe she is already 13 weeks old!), but I have had some issues the past few days with her while we have her outside to go potty.

The area outside my apartment where I take her to do her business has some mulch around the bushes, which was fine, but when the landscaping people came this past week they somehow managed to get little bits of mulch all over Bandit's usual potty area. The problem stems from this. She…

Suggestions for aggression?

My (soon to be) 5 month old Pem, Dexter, is becoming more and more aggressive. I believe it is because of his teething, but I can't be sure. I know his teeth are really bothering him, they are falling out and growing in, and he sometimes bleeds. I feel terrible about his pain, but the way he has been acting is unacceptable. He has a Nylabone, Kong, etc. I freeze rags and give them to him, and he loves pieces of ice. I feel like I'm doing the right thing for his teeth, so could it be…

nom nom nom...

So Remy has been doing really well with his potty training, walking, getting to know his surroundings, & everything, but one thing he has a problem with is the excessive nipping & biting. He's a little 12-week old puppy so of course he's going to be teething & wanting to chew on everything. I can sympathize for the poor little boy. ): I've been trying to use a suggested method of saying "OW!" in a high-pitched tone just like a dog & ignoring him until he's calm. It's been… Continue

Very itchy puppy

I was woken up today from Lola shaking the bed scratching herself. She was biting her paws like crazy, and she can't stop scratching her front legs. When she bites her front feet her back legs kick at the same time too. It was cute but I felt horrible for her because she was so itchy. I haven't changed her food and she is on flea medication, so I don't think she has bugs. So we took a trip to the pet store and got "Natural Care Veterinarian's Best Itch Relief Hot Spot Shampoo with tea tree oil… Continue

Bully stick.. and Biting

I think Owen might be the only dog who was not immediately charmed by the bully stick. He did this weird thing for about 5 minutes until I took it away. Sniff it, nip at it and jump away like he had received a shock! Then bark at it a few times. Repeat. I got tired of that one really quick. My husband came home and we tried again. Matt said he had to show him what to do - then he was busy until dinner time.

Owen is a little chewer so we are keeping that mouth busy on good things to… Continue

Um.. Terrible 15's? (or is it 16 weeks?)

I have been very sick, I do not get sick often, but apparently when I do, I do it big. As a result I mainly stumble home after a workday and roll up into a ball to die. Naturally, Cheez-it found this the perfect opportunity to switch personalities (er. dogalities?). The day before I fell ill with the common cold it rained, pretty bad actually. We went out to potty as usual and he enthusiastically jumped from the sidewalk to his normal stomping(pooping) grounds. On realization that it was wet he… Continue

My slippers!

It was unusually cold this morning :( so when I woke up I put on my warmer "winter" slippers, which I haven't worn for a couple of months, since before we got Penny. She is obsessed with them! They have a lambswool cuff on them and that's the part she loves, but I almost crushed her several times because she was attached to my feet. She wasn't actually biting my feet, just the cuff, but I think I am going to have to make the slippers go away because she no longer bites anyone's feet and I don't… Continue

Settling in

Lucy is doing great! She's adjusting well to her new life with an active "on the go" family. She plays well with our two sons, but tends to get too excited and forgets she isn't supposed to nibble on younger son's ears. That is getting better. We are learning how to read her too and that when she's getting tired, it is easy to overexcite her. She likes clicker training and we use her breakfast for rewards. She has sit, down, touch, and horsey (a rearing up pose we caught by happy accident… Continue
