Sunday in the Park

I can't stand it. Google hates this, but I wish so intensely to bite the neighbors that I'm reproducing a post that just went live at my regular blog, Funny about Money. Et allez-vous faire fou*re, Google!

***

Ruby and Cassie are up and ready to go by 6 a.m. Normally, we would avoid the park on Sunday morning, because gaggles of…

Pet Friendly Vacation Rentals

We rent pet friendly, seaside cottages on Martha's Vineyard. They are right across the street from a pet friendly beach, too! We have always had our cottages pet friendly, because we know we like to have our dogs with us on vacation! In fact, our corgis will be joining us in the Berkshires this year.

If you're looking to book a last-minute trip to Martha' Vineyard, please check out the following listings below. This time of year we are offering some good deals.

Corgis who like music

So I'm quite curious if there are any corgis out there who like to listen to music and will bob or sway to music. Dodger loves Mozart and Beethoven. He'll start swaying and he tries to do a little bob-dance type of thing. It's the cutest thing ever. Do any of your corgis do something similar or is it whatever to them? Do they like a specific type of music or do they like to switch it up?

New Boyfriend Afraid of Dogs.....What to do?

First, he doesn't "hate" dogs, he's just scared of them.  He's never lived in a home with a dog.

He hasn't been to my house yet - obviously.

Even when I tell him stories of how Bear lies nose to nose with me in the morning when I'm waking up, to speed up the process so he can get food of course - he tells me that I need to not let my dogs near my face.  And how it's dangerous and that they could really bite me and do some damage.

I have never…

Adding a 2nd Corgi

When we rehomed Ricky (aka Rafa) Lucy wouldn't let him sleep next to her. In fact, she wouldn't allow him to sleep on our bed! So I am happy to share these photos. I believe in miracles, haha! A BIG thank you to all mycorgi friends who gave so much support when we re-homed "The Rafanator!"   xoxo wendy…

Alton Brown's Corgis!

As you may be familiar, Alton Brown has two Cardigan Welsh Corgis. I couldn't find any good pictures of them online, sadly, but I did take this screen cap of them from an episode that they were in!

These things I know to be true...

1.  My corgis will NEVER blow their coat at the same time.  This would make my life entirely too easy.  Instead, Bear will shed now, for the next three weeks, THEN Goldy will begin her molting.  MUCH better to drag it out over two months.

2.  Although raised in my home, Goldy will forever be an outside dog.  She goes outside to lay in the grass/snow/mud whenever she can.  Today I hadn't heard from her in a bit and went to check on her...she had made herself a little bed in…

And the snow just keeps on coming...

We're in a bit of a pattern here in Kentucky.

It snows, all the schools close, we're out for a day or two, the skies clear for 5 days, then the cycle repeats.

This cycle has almost repeated perfectly since the 2nd week of December - if it weren't so troublesome it would be amazing.

Here is yet another short video of my two beasts enjoying the snow.

Besides baking and cleaning, videoing the dogs is one of the few things that…

Weight Control

Hmmmm… how do I start this. I guess with a short story about a comment that was made to us when we were at the beach with Soffie and Griffyn last week. A man on the beach with his dog inquired to us as to what breed of dogs we had. When we told him Pembroke Welsh Corgis he replied… Really?? Aren’t they usually FAT?!!!

Sad but true I’m afraid…. So I am going to post a…

New Corgi to family of non corgi owners

Today is his 3rd day with us. Little corgi still unnamed. The girls were outside and wrote with chalk "My dog is the most awesome!" on my patio. Later I found a few kids out back jumping and playing. Then they were in the front, corgi and all...he just stood by my youngest, where she went he went! I saw her looking into his dog crate and he was beside her peeping in too. I thought they had a cat in there but it was just Josh, the smallest kid in the neighborhood. Our corgi just… Continue

Mud Babies by Goldy

Today mom let us go play in the mud, since it was bath day anyway...we had soooo much fun. Today was our favorite kind of weather, cloudy, cool and wet. We don't care for playing in the summer, we get hot and hide under any nearby tree/chair/shadow.

We especially liked chasing each other. Bear is…

52 Weeks of Corgis

I stumbled upon a group on Flickr that, as a group, will be photographing their dogs once each week in an effort to:

"create that one photo each week of your chosen dog that either stands out, signifies something special in your dog's week, or is a unique approach from your other photos of your best friend. Push the limits a little, do something different, be creative, challenge yourself. "

I like the concept of the project. Like a lot of folks… Continue

My Dogs and I Totally "Click"

Bear, Goldy and I have begun clicker training. Today was day 1...and thank goodness for smart Corgis!

The downside of having two dogs by yourself - you're supposed to separate them when you train them. Even though both of my dogs are crate trained and go into their crate happily everyday when I say "crate," when I crate one to work with the other - the barking is INSANE.

SO, we're making it our own and doing it together, and so far so good. When one sits, I click and… Continue

D-Con Mice/Rat Poison Pellets -- Do You Know What to Do?

My loveable Topaz loves to chase rabbits, squirrels, cats, lizards, frogs, virtually anything that moves fast on the ground.

Friday morning when she caught a mouse on first snap I was so proud of her! -- Until I realized she wasn't going to present me with her "gift." Instead she was savoring it for herself, taking it out to the backyard to finish off.

Then it hit me -- I've got mice/rat pellet poison down in the house and this mouse could have ingested… Continue

Where are all the Corgis?

I live in Australia. It is extremely rare that I see a Corgi these days. Is it because they are 'out of fashion'? Years ago, the Afghan Hound was the 'in' dog to have. These days you very rarely see an Afghan Hound. I think it is a shame when a dog breed is used as a fashion statement. I think the Corgi is best know as the Queen's dogs. By what I have seen there appears to be more Corgis in the USA than here in Australia. Any idea why they would be so rare these days?
