Update- Potus's health and a presumed diagnosis

So, after a few bouts of bloody poop and vomiting and blood and fecal tests our vet has returned a presumed diagnosis of low grade, recurrent pancreatitis. I say presumed as the blood test and the symptoms point towards this being the problem, however the fecal tests, which were taken when Potus was feeling okay as his bouts have not been frequent enough, thankfully, for us to have gotten a sample of his bloody poo, could not 100% confirm the diagnosis.

Nonetheless we are going…

On the smaller side of things

Ace is now coming up fast on his seven-month birthday and weighs "just" 7.5 kg (or 16.5 lb). I am a little concerned as he is from the USA and the AKC standard calls for a minimum weight of 30 lb for males, ideally. I understand that he's far from fully grown and that it could take up to 2 years for him to fill out, but he is noticeably smaller than other male Cardis we saw at his age.

WRT his weight in proportion to his frame, he is at a really great size - pressing slightly…

How Much Do You Feed a 6 Month Old Corgi?

Bartleby is getting bigger and longer, but sometimes I worry he is too "skinny". When he stretches out, I can see his ribs, and I'm worried that what I'm feeding him isn't adequate. I've been really focused on keeping him not obese and worried its a little too much in the other direction. I think he's going to probably be a pretty big corgi when full grown, based off his size now compared to adults I've seen and how big his dad was. How much did you feed or should you feed your corgi at 6… Continue

Hospital may not allow Daxter to become a therapy dog because he's fed raw.......

I don't even know where to begin with this..........okay, so I've been waiting since last October for my application to be approved so that I can take the next step towards Daxter become a therapy dog. He comes with me to work at least 2-3 times a week and is basically known as "the front-door greeter". He's always been extremely friendly and outgoing and absolutely LOVES people, so becoming a therapy dog was an easy decision for me to make. I've gone through all the processes and filled out…

Supplements for Corgis

As an equestrian, I've learned that adding supplements to good care and nutrition can be very beneficial to my horse's health and wellbeing. I believe this is true for my corgis as well. I feed my corgis high quality food: Tigger gets Blue Buffalo lamb and rice. Molly gets Science Diet C/D to keep her UTI's under control. I also feed the corgis healthy snacks such as carrots and green beans and crandberries. About 1x a week, I add Omega 3 fatty acid supplement to to support their skin coat and… Continue

Switching to Evo

We ran out of Origen puppy formula and it was time to switch to adult food anyways. I know everyone says that the switch should be gradual, but Shiro eats a large variety of meats along with his kibble (not at the same time) so I felt it wuold be OK to start a new food right away.

He usually gets cooked chiken, ground beef or turkey, sometimes pork every other day, and when I switched from Innova to Origen he didn't have any problems at all.

Anyways, the store near us doesn't have… Continue

A Walk and Good Nutrition

After seeing an earlier post on walking dogs...and feeling a bit guilty for my lazy nature...I decided to put on the coveralls, the heavy boots, glove and hat to take the dogs out for a romp in the recently harvested corn field. I love to walk in the harvested field since it is easier to walk six dogs off leash, no concerns for traffic and lots of room to run.My little blind Corgi is just esthatic to be off leash and I know she will stay close and go right down the rows with me. The pack uses a… Continue

Feeding your dog a natural diet.

A couple weeks ago Kaley Corgi's Mom from www.sansanpups.com asked me to write a post on the raw diet, which I feed Winnie. Now that finals are over I was able to write one up today.

I posted a copy of the post on my blog. Check it out here!
