Hip Dysplasia

My little girl, at just 11 months old, has been diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia. I'm trying to remain upbeat as we work with the neutraceuticals but it just breaks my heart to watch my puppy struggle to get up or limping after a gentle romp on the grass.

I've read many old posts about Corgis with hip dysplasia. However, I wanted to see if anyone out there is struggling with a new diagnosis like we are.

Your experiences and thoughts are most…

What's Wrong with Waffle?

Back in February, Waffle got sick!  His ultimate diagnosis was bacterial gastroenteritis, IVDD between the L3 and L4 vertebrae, and hip dysplasia (CHD) in his back left leg (the right leg if he were facing you).  Five hundred dollars later, he was better, but I had a sour taste in my mouth about the whole thing.  I called my breeder and told her what they said, and she said we would get him looked at by her vet because she didn't like how they diagnosed CHD from a spinal X-ray. Diagnosing…

Weight Control

Hmmmm… how do I start this. I guess with a short story about a comment that was made to us when we were at the beach with Soffie and Griffyn last week. A man on the beach with his dog inquired to us as to what breed of dogs we had. When we told him Pembroke Welsh Corgis he replied… Really?? Aren’t they usually FAT?!!!

Sad but true I’m afraid…. So I am going to post a…

Wedded Bliss

The day finally came. We had our wedding on the 14th so Finn no longer has to worry about being made fun off by the other pups for his parents not being married. :) We've been planning the wedding for the past year and a half and everything turned out great. There were a few issues along the way but they worked themselves out in the end. It was very stressful as the big day drew closer, especially since Jason was laid off a week before the wedding. Talk about bad timing! We had to put aside… Continue

I hate my vet...

Figures the only time that I ever need them, they're closed. They were closed on the Saturday my cat's lung collapsed, and today, on a MONDAY, they're closed?! Lola is limping, with her back right leg. I don't know how it happened. We were playing in the yard chasing each other around, we came inside, she took a nap and when she woke up she didn't want to put pressure on it. I thought it may have been asleep but it's definitely not. I waited a while to make sure. I was touching her leg and back… Continue

Limping

Hi all,

I just finished reading a post that talked a little bit about limping in corgis, but my situation is a little bit different, so I thought I'd post it as well.

Buckley is a very happy and active 2 year old corgi. We started noticing that after he'd been resting for awhile, or first thing in the morning when we get up, that he would be limping on his hind left leg. Because he is so active, we thought that maybe he'd pulled a muscle, but it didn't really make sense… Continue
