Hello,
I am new to my corgi, and I am hoping I am posting this in the right place.
Long story short, I have a 13 week old puppy and while she does learn pretty quickly, she is also stubborn! The biggest problem we are having is getting her to stop attacking our feet and ankles especially when we are walking. It really hurts, and the tradition techniques of trying to swap a toy out or yelling "ouch!" aren't working. This is especially distressing to my husband who fears…

So tonight, it being 10 p.m. and after the mosquitoes' bed-time, we were a-hunting the little bugs on their favorite nest, the ceiling. We'd patrolled most of the rooms, Cassie barking every time the Human cocked the fly-swatter, so as to warn her little winged friends so they could escape. As an afterthought, we dodged into the former TV room, now rarely used since I replaced the television with Netflix.
This is the room where I used to hang out almost every evening, and…

Ruby and Cassie are SO much better! Now that I've recovered from the most recent (rather annoying) surgery and my son has repatriated the puppy, the worrisome behavioral issues have pretty much resolved.
Putting Ruby on a leash or confining her inside a room with me and Cassie all the time she's in the house worked some sort of a miracle in short order. Really, I couldn't begin to explain why or how this worked...only can report that the competitive "I'm gonna kill…

So I went away for about a week and a half to help my dad move down to North Carolina, from Upstate NY. It was a grueling 14hr drive one way.
I left the dog home because (a)my Aunt doesn't really like dogs, and (b) her fiance is severely allergic to animals. Like we went to a Zoo and he broke out and had an attack just from being at the Zoo, and this guy loves animals to death, I really feel bad for him.
So I left my dog at home, with my fiance. We had a training plan in order,…

So I'm sitting outside on the back porch working on some stuff for one of the graphic designers, a little project that goes on and on and on and.... The house's doors are closed, because it's warm and the AC is on. I hear a beeping noise. An insistent beeping noise.
The neighbor has a truck that beeps like that. Beep beep beep freaking BEEP. It takes awhile before I realize whatever the racket is, it's not the dude's accursed truck. So I get up to investigate and lo! The house…

Be warned: There's A LOT of bragging in this thread!
Eight days ago, we had our VERY FIRST trial in AKC obedience and we got second place. This weekend, we had two trials to attend and placed second in each one, earning all three legs of our Companion Dog title. Waffle passed his Therapy Dog International test just two days before his first…

I am sharing this post which was on my Facebook page this morning. It's long, but worth reading.
For those of you who wondered what the outcome was for the Husky (hybrid?) that Cesar strung up on his TV show (and was bitten for his efforts, thank you very much). From a Facebook friend:
I stumbled across this response from Shadow's original foster dad who ended up adopting Shadow after he was absolutely tortured on the episode mentioned in…

Hi All!
I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on transitioning my corgi from staying in her crate (until I get home at lunch-then back in until dinner) to hanging out in one room (gated off from other rooms) to allowing her to hang out in the entire house while my hubby and I are away at work. Any advice would help!
Thanks,
Megan

After all of the months of research and waiting and planning and preparation...Fiona finally came home on February 1st. And oh, what a month it's been!

Yesterday Joe, my parents, and I drove a little over three and a half hours to pick up Zorro (and as my parents like to say their first grandson from me). When we got there we were immediately greeted by two sweet corgis. It turns out the adult in the picture I posted with the puppies a few days ago is actually his brother. He is such a nice dog! When I was trying to look at the puppies he kept trying to get under my arms so I could pet him. The father his a nice little RHT and the mother…

I've never had my own dog before, so I'm trying to compile as much information as I can before our little corgi comes home in July! If I'm missing anything, pleaaase let me know!

let me first preface this by saying that this post will be long, but i ask that you please read because i really need some support from the community. please!!!
Ravioli came home saturday evening, and he seemed pretty ok with us (my boyfriend and i). we brought him back to the apartment and he explored a lot. the breeder said he hadn't used the bathroom all day (which was from before 9am to 630pm when we got him). we took him out a couple times that night and he still never went to…

It's been a few weeks now that I have worked on Ace's people skills. Every day, I made it a point that at least one stranger would come up to him. He's done terrific progress in some parts, and is going at a snail's pace in others. What I have discerned from this experiment so far:
- Ace loves the ladies. Of all shapes, sizes, ages and species. If a girl comes up to him, he will go sniff her with just momentary hesitation. What a ladies' man...
- Ace is not as…

I am on such a rush right now! Ace and I just came back from a lovely first glance at an agility class, on a terrain about half an hour away by car. I have never wanted to learn how to drive (and own my own car) so badly until now - I want to go back!
We were allowed to drop in on a beginner's agility course, and eventually the trainer asked us if we'd like to have a go. I was so elated, I jumped into the ring without a second thought. Ace did extremely well on the long-line…

I almost feel like a crazy person because I've emailed so many people looking for a corgi. Did any one else email a lot of people looking for your corgi? If so how many? I'm just trying to make myself not feel as psycho, haha. I emailed all of them exactly one month ago today, with the exception of about 3 of them, and only one has emailed me back so far. However, she said she is going to BREED her dogs in July, meaning they probably won't be born until August and won't be ready to take home…

My husband, Ace and I all went to the city prefecture today to pick up my 10 year "Green Card" for staying in France (a victory on its own!). After a grueling half-hour wait in a room that felt more like a sauna than a city hall, I was called forward to a window and Ace accompanied me. The clerk waved hello and made kissy noises to Ace, which piqued his interest in what was going on. He had already been such a good little gentleman until now - despite the presence of many squealing and…

I am SO happy to report that today, Ace and my husband went to the atelier of a photographer (Xavier) who works in the same building as us. Ace was on a very loose leash in the presence of Xav, and did not try to hide behind my husband's legs when first being introduced.
After 6 treats dispensed in the hand of Xavier, Ace allowed the latter to pet him on the top of his head! This is HUGE! I couldn't believe it when my husband told me just how zen Ace was with being touched,…

Sorry for the silence around the holidays! My husband and I have been very preoccupied with work, work and more work. However, that hasn't stopped me from doing a large amount of progress with Ace's training!
He has become such an amazing gentleman; it's truly remarkable how fast he learns. Because I have opted out of joining the weekly "obedience" classes in my city (truth is, they use the Old School methods of fear and leash-pulling, which I abhor), I have made it my…

Yesterday, Ace and Grâce, his 5 month old Boxer puppy girlfriend, spent close to two hours playing and chasing each other around. They get along splendidly and Ace loves to be chased and rolled around by his long-legged lady. She is an extremely high-drive dog and her intensity is sometimes frustrating for her owner, a friend of ours who works very odd hours. As such, he does not often have time to work with her, and I have seen some of the damage she's done in his flat as a result of her…
