First Puppy Days...

friday we somehow managed to get ourselves together and get on the road to duxbury in one piece, but it was an ordeal for sure.

and then, and then, after FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER OF WAITING, we finally picked up machete! and he was perfect and snuggly and adorable and awesome. we spent some time with anne learning about his feeding habits, his…

Oh dear...

Where to start?

Well, since I last came by MyCorgi.com, Spider had a bout with lyme disease which was successfully treated and was pretty healthy and happy until late last December, when he stopped eating for several days before becoming violently ill.

I had made an appointment to take him in the next morning due to his decreased appetite but ended up rushing him to a 24 hour emergency vet hospital after I discovered how sick he'd been (all over the room and…

Zorro's First Vet Appointment

Well I've officially had Zorro for three days now and he is just wonderful! There are the normal puppy problems, but other than that he is such a great dog! The first night when we initially put him in his cage he didn't cry, then woke us up at 2:30am. I brought him outside to go potty and when I tried to put him back in his kennel he started crying. I let him out and he fell asleep on the floor next to me and then I put him in his kennel and he whined a little bit, then went to sleep.…

Veterinarian Help

We're about to get our pup in November, and I'm trying to sort things out before our sweet pup gets here. We'll be moving to the North Addision area and I wanted to know if anyone was from around there that could recommend a good veterinarian from there or close to there.

The vet we used to visit is a sad place especially for my hubby. :( We had lost a kitten there...…

Our first vet visit

Took Cocosette to the vet for a puppy check-in.  She was mostly calm about the entire affair-- the weighing, nail clipping, temp taking (Ay!) and the doc's exam.  Her only objections were to the shot and, oddly enough, the dose of de-wormer.  I've only had her for a week, but she's already growing like a weed; added another pound since her last weigh-in.  The vet had lovely, soft hands manipulating Cocosette and gave me some…

Oh you silly girl!

I haven't updated in a while but I just couldn't stop giggling at this one.

Took Roxi to figure out what exactly she was allergic to (finally) and a REALLY expensive trip later, learning she's allergic to pretty much the world + cotton! I had the funniest drunk acting dog stumbling to the car.

A few weeks ago I had the same thing from Charlie after getting his teeth cleaned + fatty lump removed.

I can't help but find it so hilarious when they leave like that. Cute… Continue

Pathology results!!!

So the vet called me yesterday and gave me and Callie some wonderful news. Callie had leiomyoma which is a benign tumor that was located in her intestines. And since they took out all of it there is no additional follow-up is necessary. So she is cancer free and can live a normal life after this whole ordeal! (Which is great because we all believed it to be cancer and that we'd have to keep an eye on her to make sure it didn't come back.)

Other updates are that she is finally on… Continue

Daisy - Such Sorrow

For those of you who have followed my Daisy with her struggles of in and out of the Doggie Hospital. Yesterday she came home just after 11:00 a.m. and by 2:45 she couldn't stand up by herself. I called the Vet and told her I was bringing her back and she said OK she would get a room ready for her. I started my car and went to pick her up and she whimpered as I gently lifted her and she passed away in my arms. I couldn't stop crying. I held and hugged her. She worked so…

Hooves are banished! Antlers, welcome! Buy one if you haven't already!!

My vet is fantastic. I couldn't love him more. He calmly and patiently answers every question I have, is a busy vet who also does research for UC Davis Vet School outside of his practice so I know he's up to date on what I need to know for my little guy.

During our visit 2 days ago for Ollie's last puppy shots, I mentioned that sometimes Ollie spits up a tiny little bit of foamy vomit... no food, no bile, doesn't smell, doesn't slow him down, etc. Dr. Leslie immediately…

puppy exposed to dog with ringworm?? advice please!

Hello!

My lil Ollie is 3 months old (yesterday) and 2 weeks shy of his last puppy shots. This morning, our neighbor's dog (who Ollie has played with a couple of times in the last day or 2) was diagnosed with Ringworm -- HOLY MOLY. As a protective mommy, I'm seeking advice on what I should do??

He's already had his deworming and seems in wonderful health. I checked him all over and didn't find a sign of anything and will bathe him tomorrow and…

Rainy Day... Inside and Out

What a Monday... I think I'm just going to have to Office Space-it and say, "I have the case of the MONdays."

It begins during the wee hours in the middle of the night as the storms roared and raged through Plano, TX. Sky, who enjoys lightening and thunder, wanders through the apartment going between his bed and watching the storm out of the window. Not that this specifically kept me awake, but since I was having trouble sleeping hearing him go back and forth was driving me… Continue

Sick again

Today after getting back from class (I was gone maybe 3 hours) I noticed Callie was acting strange, she was trembling. I thought maybe she had to go potty so I let her outside. She did her business like normal, but just kept trembling. She then didn't even want to walk back to the building. So I picked her up and started walking her across the parking lot back to the building and she throws up. After that she started to perk up some, but within the next 30 minutes was back to shaking. She laid… Continue

D-Con Mice/Rat Poison Pellets -- Do You Know What to Do?

My loveable Topaz loves to chase rabbits, squirrels, cats, lizards, frogs, virtually anything that moves fast on the ground.

Friday morning when she caught a mouse on first snap I was so proud of her! -- Until I realized she wasn't going to present me with her "gift." Instead she was savoring it for herself, taking it out to the backyard to finish off.

Then it hit me -- I've got mice/rat pellet poison down in the house and this mouse could have ingested… Continue

Vaccine time!

Yesterday I brought Callie to the vet to get her vaccines. I decided that we would walk there (it is only 5 blocks away). The walk went fine and Callie really enjoyed it. She wasn't a huge fan of having to sit in the small room and wait for the vet, but she was a brave little girl when she did get her shots. After we got home she rested and was happy to be home.

I had to leave for awhile because I was working, and when I got back Callie had made a mess in the bedroom. Runny poo all over… Continue

One week.

One week in, and already things have changed so much with my freckle-tummied little stub wagger. She is almost sleeping though the night. Last night, we went to bed around midnight, and she didn't wake me up until seven-thirty in the morning! Which surprised me, since I didn't think she was capable of holding it that long at the age of ten weeks. In any case, it was a nice break from the ~4:30 wakeup call I had been getting in between sleeping for the past six days. Although anticipated, it… Continue

Loving Starbuck

Starbuck is 14 and a half weeks old, and she is the light of my life.

We took her yesterday to get her third puppy shots and rabies. She's a huge puppy at 10.6! Well, maybe she's not huge, but even though we've only had her for 6 weeks, we find ourselves talking about "when she was little." When we brought her home from the breeder, she was a whole 5.6... hence the "when she was little." She was great at the vet. She didn't cry at all. I gave her her treats, so no vomiting on the way… Continue

A lot has happened

I've been lax in being active here, unfortunately.

In the time since I've last logged in, a bit has happened with Spider. He spent a while in a boarding kennel in the summer of 2007 while Nate and I took a trip down to Memphis, TN to visit family aboard Amtrak.

And most recently (and severely), he had a health scare. We had left the house to run some errands and when we came home, a heavy scent of bleach fumes greeted us. Apparently someone had been using it to clean near… Continue

Bertie is so lethargic suddenly

I feel like such a dog hypochondriac at times, but since they can't tell us what's wrong... Anyway, Bertie woke me up last night, wanting to go out. He did a normal poo, but then he wanted to just lie in the cool, damp grass. We came back inside and he repeated the performance about an hour later. This time when we came back inside, he wanted to sit in my lap -- and understand, Bertie is ONLY snuggly when he feels bad, otherwise, he is absolutely not. So we sat together for a bit, as I thought… Continue

Bella Bear-4 months

Today I took Bella for her puppy booster. She just has 1 more to go. They weighed her and she weighs 11 lbs.! I was so surprised since the last time she only weighed 6.4 lbs. My baby's getting bigger but she still looks small to me. She's such a joy, even though she likes to cause a ruckus around here. :) And she has gotten so pretty. Her coloring is so pretty to me. I've never seen a sable corgi before, but she has black markings in the prettiest places. She looks different almost every week.… Continue

Vet Visit

Monster just had his one year check up. He has silly veins so the doctor had to dig around for them. He was a champ! He did sooo good getting his blood taken and getting his medicine injections. Everything was fine until about 2 hours ago and now he feels bad. :( He cries if you try to pick him up or touch his hips and he is so tired! He's been sleeping since we got home. He didn't even greet Chase when he came home for dinner or get up for a cookie, so we knew something was wrong. I hope he… Continue
