Bush fire season In Australia

Was about to leave work yesterday and one of the residents at work come via my desk and told me there were some brush fires out our way and had got out of control and were we anywhere near the area!. I rushed for the train and on the way home the mood in the train was rather panic as people on the train were calling families hoping they were safe I called Paul he said he could see the smoke of the fires in the distance as the train got closer to Richmond where I park the car I could see the…

Age does not weary them!.

Today for the 1st time is Oscar's 10 years & 9 months I noticed a look of frustration in his eyes!. He looked at me as if to say dad I'm not a puppy anymore! I'm near on 77 next Jan 4th!. He has always been a puppy in my eyes from the day I brought him home from the breeder he has changed my life I think for the better!. I thinks the roles have changed now it was if I was having a bad day this wet snout was always there licking his dads hand as if to say don't worry dad it will be okay.…

Tick season!.

Good morning all,

Sydney Australia has had the warmest Winter on record! and this means tick season has started early and vets are warning us to be vigilant and on guard with our pets in high tick areas!!!. Paul and I check Oscar & Sam on a daily basis and we have changed their frontline plus to advantix  for both boys!. It seems because Oscar is lower to the ground he seems to be more of a target than Sam??? so we do it fortnightly rather than monthly now!. We have a tick and…

Re Ticks on Oscar

I went to my pet store today where a vet works I discussed the tick problem with her she told me to get Oscar off frontline plus ASAP and put him on Advantix for dogs it seems strange that it only happens to Oscar and not Sam?. though Oscar is lower to the ground than Sam & sticks his snout into things more?. she also advised a flea and tick rinse which I can dab on the tick or rinse him with the solution with water. I only ever needed to frontline the dogs once a month now I going to do…

Re ticks any advise

It seems that Paul & I have moved into a high tick area! we took both Oscar & Sam to the local Kurrajong vet the other day and she informed us that the area was bad for bush & paralysis ticks!. Shock horror I almost lost it at the vets I said that we frontline plus both dogs and should I get a tick collars for both the dogs? I understand they smell quite bad?. The vet also recommended a tick rinse that you could dab straight on the tick or rinse the dogs with it!. I'm so paranoid…

Hello from Langi Dorn

Hi all well we have been in our new house just under 2 weeks Paul took some photo's of Oscar in the dining room and I took one of them all on the new observation deck with the view back to Sydney behind them!. Paul was painting the deck as the old owners ran out of time to paint it for us at least they finished it for us before we moved in. There is a lot of work to do as the owners left the house and gardens in a terrible state mess every where and the gardens will need a lot of work to get…

Winter Time is Here!!!

Oscar knew Paul was helping him and licked his face as if to say a big thank you!. We inspected both dogs over thoroughly and thank goodness there was only the one!.. It…

A thank you from Oscar's Dad

A big thank you from Oscar's dad to those who left messages for Oscar I kept Oscar downstairs last night he had the choice between his trampoline bed and his one he snuggles up in I've had a sleepness night lying there hearing his breathing!. I'm expecting a call from the vet this am to tell me how Oscar's blood test went to see if he will be okay to be put under for his tooth extraction next Friday. Isn't it funny we worry just as much if not more about our animals as we do our children!.…
