Getting a new Puppy!

My breeder is expecting two litters at the beginning of August, which I will pick my little girl from! I'm hoping for a light red girl, but corgis are just so darn cute that color doesn't really matter when it comes down to it! I've already picked out a name for my unborn puppy, Rose! No, it's not from the Titanic, (although I absolutely love that movie!) It's from Doctor Who! I recently became obsessed with the show and anything to do with it. If anyone watches the show, they'll know that Rose was the first companion of the Doctor (not ever, just in the recent start-up of the show). Although Doctor 9 wasn't my favorite (Go #10!), Rose was my favorite companion! She's also everything I hope MY Rose will be. She's smart, funny, calm, adventurous, feisty at times, and VERY loving (She ended up with Doctor 10's clone!). This will be my first time in a long time with a puppy, but I think if my entire family pitches in we can do it! The last dog we had was a Neapolitan Bull Mastiff (as tall as my 6'0 dad, when he stands on his hind legs!). We are big dog lovers, and I usually can't stand little dogs. But, when I saw pictures of corgi puppies on Pinterest, I fell in love! The only little dog that I like! (Besides Basset Hounds, etc. It's usually just the chihuaua/yorkie type dog I don't like!) But in short, I'm super excited!

Comment by Ferris on July 24, 2012 at 11:51pm: Congrats! I love Doctor Who too. I was thinking of naming my puppy Rory, but I decided on Ferris because it fits him better. Corgis are wonderful dogs, and I bet you'll have a lot of fun with her!

I am picking up our newest pup in 8 days and couldn't be happier! I assume you've done your research on the breed, but if you haven't looked at the FAQ pages on corgi ownership and facts here, I definitely recommend it. I had my first corgi for about a year before I came across the site. I did a bit of research prior to picking him up, but I don't think I would have been as fully prepared as if I'd been on this site first. There are a TON of great corgi owners with TONS of experience with just about everything your corgi will go through.. so please don't hesitate to ask questions. This site has got me through a lot, and I'm just so thankful it is here. Have fun getting prepared for your pup! And don't forget the pictures pictures pictures!!!!
