Good Morning Corgi Nation~
As it turns out I am leaving Colorado at the end of July. I am heading back to where I came from, Santa Barbara, CA. In my search for housing, I'll be renting now, I am having a very hard time finding a place that is pet friendly. I have two Pems. Reed is two, and Penelope is 9. Finding a place online is a challenge in and of itself, places that do allow pets are just horrible and in neighborhoods and have horrible reviews. I would rather not live in a horrible neighborhood. I have offered extra rental deposit funds for them and still no leads. I do have friends out there looking for me as well. Does anyone know of a website, or group that could lead me in the right direction. Re-homing one or more of my dogs is not an option. I am sure one dog would be easier than two, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
I am under the gun with three weeks to go. For those of you renters...what did you do.
Thanks in advance everyone~

Comment by Tina Striegl on July 10, 2012 at 8:35am Hi everyone~
Thanks for all the suggestions. I have a couple great leads on some places. I cannot go look myself as I am not there. I am still in CO until 7/29. I do have friends combing neighborhoods and pet friendly areas making inquires on my behalf. I too am familiar with the area as I lived there for 13 years. I also emailed doggy care places for possible leads. All the links are very helpful!
Comment by Milo on July 9, 2012 at 11:20am I'm surprised to hear this of Santa Barbara! I spent some time nearby north in Pismo Beach and have good friends south in Camarillo. While there I came across this day care business in SB. You might give them a call to see if they know any rental contacts. Also you might try calling some of the pet sitters in the area. I just moved from CA to FL and had a similar situation (but only one corgi) and found a furnished, short term seasonal rental for about 5 months. It's giving me time to get to know the area and find a permanent place. Owners had a dog of their own and were very accepting after I met with them. Good luck! Santa Barbara is a beautiful area.
While I'm on a different coast, I always find the non-community type rentals to be the most understanding. Usually multi-families that are also lived in by the landlord or are the only single rental properties. Try checking craigslist for those, and even if they say they're no pets or only single dogs, it doesn't hurt to email/call and talk to them. Sometimes once they understand that you're responsible, they're a little more willing to work with you.
Comment by Sam Tsang on July 9, 2012 at 9:24am Hi Tina, the best thing to do is actually get out there and look for yourself, online reviews are very bias, especially rentals, most people who had positive experience forget to post, therefore you only read about chronic complainers review. Not to say reviews are useless, but you should take them with a grain of salt always.
With that said, have you checked out this website? It may not be a bad idea to contact members in the area and ask for help directly. Someone's gotta know somebody. Good luck!
Comment by Jane Christensen on July 9, 2012 at 8:43am Sorry, can't help just wanted to wish you "good luck". Hopefully someone from CA can give you some good leads!
