What do you do when your dog decides to get attention from a stranger?

As we were walking, it'd been about 40mins and Pilot had decided " Nah man, I'm done" but realized that I obviously was going to make him keep moving.
Well as we're walking, there's a homeless man sitting on a bench and as we walk by, Pilot decides the dude is his savior; Before I could react, Pilot goes right to the man and lays at his feet.  The man thought it was the greatest thing ever, he lit right up and was petting Pilot, hugging him ( Pilot LOVES being hugged) and Pilot was giving him kisses and soaking up the love. I didn't want to rip Pilot away, so I just smiled and stood there for a moment, before gently instructing Pilot it was time to go home. The guy thanked me and had a big smile on his face.
Once out of ear shot I looked at Pilot and said " Well played sir", he gave me a " I know" look in return.
That was the only time he did it that day. Later on, two young girls thought he was the cutest thing ever, and they came up to me and asked if they could pet him. I was really impressed and thanked the girls for asking first, most adults don't ask permission.
So that was Pilots "stunt" for attention/ getting out of walking haha.
Has any ones poochies pulled something similar?

Sidney is this way with kids. If we're out walking and he hears or sees a child, he'll stop and refuse to move on until the child catches up to us. I think he's learned that kids tend to have food scraps on their hands or clothes :)

I don't have the problem of keeping Poopdeck walking; my problem is keeping away from people.  He thinks everyone in the world was put there to provide belly scratches.  I think Pilot picking out the Urban Outdoorsman and spreading Corgi love was awesome!  Keep up the great work!

What a smart baby.....He probably knew that gentleman needed some special attention.  So sweet!  Give Pilot an extra hug from me and my corgi babies.  ^..^

We have a neighbor that Lance has never met but he insists every time he is outside, that he goes and says hello to him!!!  This neighbor isn't out often either.

Some dogs are very sensitive to people's needs and can be used to assist in medical situation in addition to blindness.  I think Pilot may have known that the man had a great need so Pilot went to "minister" to him.  My Randy knows where ever there is anything wrong with me and tries to take care of me.

I don't know if Zorro so much as tries to do that to get out of walking, he just wants to meet everyone he sees! If he sees any person/child/animal, he is convinced they will be his new best friend and does everything in his power to get to them! I feel bad for him when they're not interested, although they usually are lol.
