When my dogs get too amped up in a group setting I just snap the leash on them and make them go on a little time out walk with me for a few minutes.

That's a wonderful idea! I hadn't even thought of that! I am definitely going to try that the next time we take him out.

How much do you exercise him daily? Have you tried exercising him thoroughly before you head out to the park? Getting him good and tired might help him to remain calm around the other dogs. Obviously he shouldn't be so tired that he just naps in the grass, but it'll be a lot harder for him to get out of control if he's tired. Then you can focus on proper behavior/greetings rather than fighting to get him to settle down.

If you have trouble getting him out enough to get some proper exercise, then maybe you could invest in a treadmill for him (if you don't already have one in your home). My husband and I bought a used one on Craigslist a couple of years ago and it was very affordable. We bought it mainly for my own use, but I quickly trained Yuki to walk on it and he loved it. All I had to do was say "treadmill" and he'd drop what he was doing and start begging at the door to the exercise room.
Thank you btw!

Oh no! Thats horrible! I do keep him on a tight leash and do tug everytime he gets out of hand but nothing! I end up looking crazy tugging and pulling and yelling at him. I've gone through training classes that were 2x/week for 2months. He is a big sweetheart and isn't mean but I like I said he just comes on so strong and also because he can be so high sprung and hyper

We have two females that can't be together at all. EVER! They hate each other. However, your situation seems to me like it is one that can improve with some behavioral adjustment training and modification. A couple of suggestions are: "Control Unleashed" and "Click to Calm". I've got lots of advice from these same Yahoo User Groups.
