By the way, when you first start training "come" it's best of Bailie has already seen that you have really yummy treats. The idea is to get Bailie to associate running to you with the word "come" by using the word after the pup is already running to you.

Here you go! For a puppy, the recall game I explain in this thread is the best choice. Never call Bailie when you want to do something the dog won't like; only use it as a game for now. For serious things, go and grab the dog.

What we did in classes was the trainer would hold the dog, we would tell the dog to wait...walk 15-20' forward, turn and ask the dog to "come,Sage" have a good tasting treat and when they come close you bring the treat close between your legs so the dog has to be right there close to you. then treat. I also have 2 comes. The plain "come" which is sometimes nnot listened to and then the emergancy "come front" Sage comes flying with this call and it's such a great feeling. Good luck!

IMO,recall is an extremelly important command to teach,my Benson was kinda difficult in some ways,I found getting his full attention was the key, I found that with Benson I had to teach him that when I said his name I expected him to look at me,this was fairly simple through a reward system.then to work on recall I put him on a 30' training leash, I would say his name, he would look,I would add "come" then if he didn't head my way I would slowly pull him in, this worked for us. Good luck hope…

Good luck hope bailie learns quick,if not be patient, they all learn, success usually depends on how we approach "training"
