Thanks! I know others here have asked the same question. It would help in many situations, including getting into/out of a boat or pool.

Hi Holly! Thank you! Yes, you can pick him up by the handle.. the life vest has velcro AND buckles, so it's not coming off easily. Good for pulling him out of the pool, into a boat, etc.... don't know that this particular vest is sturdy enough to carry him for very long, but it works for our uses.

He is incredible! My dog won't even fetch something on dry land, unless it's edible. Tucker is so cute in his life vest. Can you pick him up by the handle in the vest or will it shift or open? That would be convenient as a lifter.

@Linda, sorry to hear that. It's even harder in lake, river or pool, as you are less buoyant in sweet water than in sea water. Not that it makes much difference when you think you're drowning....

LOL. I watched the video again. That is so stinkin cute! I'll have to find a toy that Jeli can't live without and see if we can work her up to it. I pick her up and walk in with her, or coax her onto a raft with tasty treats. I've taught her to swim to the steps and she will swim and fetch toys to me if I'm sitting on the steps, and she likes just having me hold her in the water. But she does not volunteer to go in on her own. Sometimes I think maybe that is a good thing, but it…

I thought about having a doggy pool party and maybe another dog would teach her how...LOL. Anyway, good luck with your trial. Let us know how he does!
Awesome job! Awesome job! I always thought my Madison would have excelled at this; she takes flying leaps from the shore and lands with a huge splash and swims like a fish. Alas, she is now nearly 10 and wobbly from her seizure meds, so I wouldn't try it if I could. I never did find a place near enough my house.

I learned with the sink or swim method, got thrown off the dock at the lake.I still remember I never trusted my uncle after that. You can't force human or animal into doing something they are unsure of...you set that person up for failure from then on.

They used to do that with children, take them out in a little row boat, then just throw them in the sea to teach them to swim ( the old sink or swim technique....). Makes me cringe! I bet that method is still being practiced :-(

Unfortunately a guy in our first class (despite being told not to) pushed his lab in. The dog was getting right up on the edge of the dock and thinking about jumping, but after he pushed him in, he wouldn't get within 10ft of the end of the dock. I liken it to personally being pushed into the pool by other human... sure, I can swim fine, but nobody likes that and it makes you very weary and distrustful of that person who did it.
