Well I did do some research before we got Charlie and I did have three corgi's previously growing up and am aware corgis shed twice a year. However, we are having to vacuum at least every three days as he is losing an enormous amount of fur compared to the other dogs we had and one was a fluff.
They are definitely work the hardship, but was concerned maybe it was a nutritional or some other issue...

John, you're too funny!
Don't mean to sound negative, but if you had done any research at all about Corgis before getting one you would of known that "blowing their coat" at least twice a year is typical. Nevertheless, they are worth that little hardship!

The saying is that corgis only shed twice a year. From January to June and from June to December..LOL! Welcome to the wonderful world of corgi ownership. I just brushed the dogs the other day in my backyard, and left the fur on the ground. (Birds love it for their nests....the ones in our area has the softest around) My neighbor asked me later if I had shaved one of the dogs.

The joke is that by the end of the week, we have enough fur to construct a whole new Corgi. I have two, and there are times you can literally pull huge tufts of hair out of them. I have a furminator (medium size) and I LOVE it. I use it a few times a week during the heaviest shedding, maybe once/week when it's not so bad. You will be amazed at how well it does. Actually, when they are really "blowing their coats" as they say, I will furminate for 10 or so minutes every day, but just focus on…

Actually, when they are really "blowing their coats" as they say, I will furminate for 10 or so minutes every day, but just focus on one area -- hips/butt one day, left side/shoulder the next, and so on. It does help. (I also got a roomba to do quick daily fur clean up, which makes me happy, but that's another story....) This is Corgi ownership. This is Corgi ownership. Leo is the same age and shedding like crazy. I brush him everyday and get tons of fur off. It is the undercoat "blowing" or shedding off for the warmer weather. Many folks on site use the furminator for shedding..I don't have one so can't say if it would work better than the slicker brush I use. There are lots of threads on site talking about shedding so plenty of more experienced owners' ideas are available.
