I got Orion neutered at exactly 4 months (Laika is getting spayed this week) and he bounced back quickly! So no worries about Ace :) I watch neuters get done all the time (including Orion and his cousin's!) and we keep them until the next day before their owners can pick up and the young ones usually are doing very well by the next morning. I got pain meds with Orion (tramadol) but he wasn't in much pain, I mainly used it to kind of keep him a little sleepy so he wasn't bouncing off the walls…

Rufus was 4 months old, and I caved and did it that early because he had company coming throughout the next month. I was amazed at how well he did. He had a little tiny incision which he couldn't even reach. My vet said to see if he tried to lick his incision and not to use the cone unless he did. Since he couldn't curl far enough to get to it, we got to avoid the cone altogether. He was a little sleepy the first day, but after that I kept forgetting he'd had the surgery.

Our little guy is 4 mo old on the 20th. The vet said we can get him done then... we may wait another mo. He sure won't like wearing the head gear!

Don't worry! When Edison got neutered, the vet assured me that corgis tend to bounce back quickly. Sure enough, Edison didn't even seem to notice that he was missing his junk. The only thing that seems to put a damper on his mood was the head cone he had to wear for a week afterwards. Ace will be fine! :)
