Thanks for the compliments, everyone. He was cute and pitiful all at the same time. :)

And I agree hardwood floors (esp. on steps) can be dangerous, that's why we confine the boys downstairs. I will just have to watch him more closely so he doesn't get stuck again.

I could use it to my advantage when I need him to be still for a photo though!

What a good boy! Even Corgis forget themselves once in while. But they're smart enough to know when to quit. How adorable!

The smooth surfaces might be more treacherous for dogs than we appreciate, especially going downstairs. I almost wish I'd left the horrible old wall-to-wall carpet; our wood floors are nice but slippery. They say it helps to trim the fur away from the pads, less slippery. We have ugly nonskid throw rugs at all the takeoff and landing zones.

I put nonskid sand in the paint for the basement stairs, harder to clean but a lot safer.

Poor Dewi! I did not teach Sparty how to use the stairs during his first year because it was easier to detirmine that he wanted out if he sat at the top of the stairs (we had a walk out basement). He has made it his mission to teach both of our subsequent pups how to use the stairs right away so may be that is what the cat doing..Lol.

Dewi sure is a handsome guy! We just recently starting teaching Luke (7 months old) how to do the stairs at our house so I feel your pain lol. I think there's a liberal coating of drool all over the stairs from trying to lure him down with treats.
