I saw that we just missed the Corgi fun day! I wish there was another coming up!
I wasn't planning on crating him once he is consistent with potty training and actually it was suggested by our vet (who is also a corgi lover and owner) so that he will learn to 'hold it' better and he never fought it... we think he actually likes it b/c in the day when he's tired, he'll go nap in there while the door's open! It's next to the bed, and he has a little pillow and bed cushion in it that is wrapped in our pillow case that smells like us and some toys like his puppy kong. He was sleeping on the bed but after several accidents, we decided to wait til he was housebroken! In the day, he's only in it when he wants to be and has daily playdates with our neighbor's pup who he loves.. he also enjoys herding my nieces ;) from room to room, and hasn't really nipped since we told him no a few times in the beginning! He is a smartie, which we love, though when he gets creative and bugs his older lab-chow mix sister (she's 13 y/o) she runs and hides... but he always seems to find her! I already know I want another one!
He loved to jump from the bed on and off, the sofa and in and out of the truck. It was finally to much for his back. And like most corgi's he LOVED food and was on a weight controlled diet because he was straining his back with his extra weight. He is doing much better these days, his hair has almost complete grown back and he is much thinner these days. He just isnt suppose to jump anymore - but dont tell him that. Thanks for asking.....
I dont know if you are still looking for a great vet that knows Corgi's, but are vet is wonderful. She has an office inThe Colony, and she raises & trains corgi's. She has been are vet for 7 yrs. Her name is Dr. Sharon Wild located on Paige rd in The Colony. Hope this helps.....
Dr. Barker isn't Corgi, or even dog specific. She's someone we use and have had good experience with. I don't have a number handy but I know she's listed online.
I'm a little late with the vet reply, so pardon the delay. We use Dr. Barker in Denton (little way down the road for you). She's great with the dogs and her entire staff loves corgis. Hope this helps.
Welcome. Our Tedi used to limp also, he had a bad shoulder. But we put him on a "doggie treat" they were actually glucosamine/chondrotin bought at Petco. Can't remember the name of it but it was in a gold bag. They really helped him a lot.
