We're well thank you Kylie. Not fire affected but concerned about these conditions.

I loved when Rupert had his little ears flopping down. My husband was waiting for them to stand up but I thought they were beautiful. They eventually stood up and there were a couple of days of one up one down!

How are things? Johnny looks so soft and cuddly! How was he through the heat? Poor Rupert spent the week vomiting on and off but seems to be much better now thank goodness.

Corgis can break their hearding habits with proper training. However, they do have a lot of energy so you will need to give them some sort of daily job... a long walk, walking to check the mail, etc. As long as they are able to expense their energy they will be okay. Reese goes on a walk around the pond next to our house as her "job". Swimming is also a good excercise too... Reese was exhausted after her pool day. Dog parks where they can run around with other dogs is another option.

Kylie: I think that the Corgi's are one of the smartest breeds that there is.. They are very individual in their personalities.. but have certain traits in common. They love to please their people and are very loyal to their people. If well socialized.. they make friends where ever they go. They attract people because they are so cute. They are a "dwarf" dog like the basset hound and the doxies. They seem to have a sense about their people's moods and will act accordingly.. however.. if you feel "down" there is nothing like a happy go lucky corgi to bring your spirits up. Gizmo is the happiest little fellow I know. That is why my daughter wanted one.. she fell in love with Gizmo.. I have not found them to be "yappy" like some small breeds.. although they are a very good watch dog.. with those ears.. they can hear things way before you or I can!! they have even been trained to help the hearing impaired as companion dogs. They originated I believe from Wales and the Queen of England has 7 or 8 of them. there is a U-tube on one of the videos in this site showing the queen with her dogs. They are known to some as the "clown dog" and others say they are have a sweet gentle "BIG DOG" personality in a dwarf body. I think they are one of the nicest breeds ever. Small enough to transport with you without too much trouble and yet quiet and sweet. talk to you later!! Gail.

Hi Kylie... well whether or not you get a male or female you should get them neutered or spayed for their health. Females won't get their period if they get spayed, which should happen around 6 months. Males should get neutered at around 6 months as well. Some people feel like it's taking their man or womanhood away but it's for the best. It can save them from cancer and/or other health issues. There's a few forums about neutering and spaying... you should really take a look at them. I use to have a male dog of a different breed and I just wasn't too fond of their private part peeping out when he got excited... we called it his LipStick... because it worked just like it! Anyway please read the forums and perhaps some other research from the SPCA or other trustful animal companies. Good luck!

Hi Kyle: I have a freind that is moving to Australia in December. Her husband is an engineer and they are going to live there for 4-5 years. It is somewhere that I have always wanted to visit . We have a 2+ year old male named Gizmo.. and our daughter just got a puppy from the same breeder. they are wonderful little dogs and always seem to be happy go lucky. hope you'll visit our site.

Reese is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She has been a pretty great puppy. We picked her up from the breeder when she was 10 weeks old. The rest of her litter was picked up at 8 weeks, but I had to wait because we were in transition of moving. My boyfriend is home a lot with her so the training wasn't very difficult. She is 90% potty trained... sometimes if we don't pay attention to her when she's standing by the door she will find somewhere to go. Also if she is in a unfamiliar place and doesn't know where to go to let you know she needs to go out she starts sniffing around. Reese also picked up sit, laydown, paw (shake), and up really quick. From the first night I got her she has never woken us up in the middle of the night. This is my first Corgi and I'm not sure if I was just lucky to have such a well behaved dog. She hasn't ruined any of our furniture either... even when she was teething. We had a lot of chew toys for her so she nawed on those. Reese is the highlight of our little family... great personality, fun, and funny! She's also very friendly... she has been good with kids that she's come in contact with as well as various ages of adults. Loves making new friends... I think as long as you have the time and patients they will in return be the best companion. However, from what I've noticed is female corgi's are more calm than the male corgi's... I think that is with majority of dogs though. I still keep in touch with some of her littermate's owners and I feel like the boys seem to be a little more difficult. You should find a breeder near you and see if you could stop by spend a little time with their corgi's... perhaps ask them some questions as well. If you do get one of these wonderful dogs make sure you get one from a reputable breeder. Let me know if you have any other questions.
