You should go to a local corgi meet-up to see them in action. I just got my first corgi back in August, and I've never been happier. And this site is such a great resource for information on how to be a good corgi parent.

Your welcome. :) I know getting a dog is a big decision. I'm glad you take it seriously like I do because there are too many people that don't and those are the dogs that end up in shelters. Feel free to ask questions any time. It sounds like you guys are pretty much in the same boat as we are.

Our apartment has some high pet fees as well. They want an $87 non refundable deposit, $150 non refundable fee and $20 a month pet rent. We've had Finn for almost 3 months and have not yet told the office about him. We will, but our wedding is in March so we're struggling to pay for that right now. As far as paying for things the puppy needs, we bought most of it months before we got him. As soon as we knew the litter was planned we started buying things like a crate, bed, toys, collar etc. so all we had to get the week we were going to get the puppy was food and some treats. The most expensive items are the crate and the bed. I got his crate on Amazon for about $60 which is a great price for one and Costco & Sam's Club have beds for $15-$20 which is also great. It's really not that bad. Toys can be as cheap or expensive as you want them to be and so can food but we buy a premium food because I think the food is important. A bag if his food costs $26 but that usually lasts about 2 months. You'll have to get your puppy his shots (about 4 sets) which are more expensive at a vet's office than they are at the low cost clinic associated with the Humane Society and Neutering is the same way. You have a lot of options so don't be discouraged. We worried about the same things but now that we have him I see that it's not that bad. :0)

Welcome Abbea! I know all too well the ache for a Corgi puppy, just got my Josie last week (Cardi) and I guess since Cardis are more difficult to find according to many on this site, we had to have her shipped from 10 hours away. You will have your dream puppy soon I hope! Keep us all posted and feel free to always ask questions - your family on this site will be more than happy to assist you in any way they can. When you ARE ready, check out Wendt Worth Corgis, Wendy raises Pems!!

That's how I felt. growing up I always had dogs and other animals and since I've lived on my own I've longed for a dog. I had a cat for a while but he ran away and I was never able to find him. Once he was gone I decided I would wait until I had a house to get a dog but 6 years later my fiance and I are still living in an apartment and I couldn't stand it anymore. I talked to a few breeders who assured me that a cardigan would be fine in an apartment so we decided to get one finally. He's the perfect little Cardigan. :)

Welcome to the site! I am in Az as well. I don't know of any meet ups around here. I really haven't found many people in Az on the site. If there were a meet up I would definitely go. :) Good luck finding your Corgi. You should have no trouble locating a red & white male. Good thing you are looking for a Pem because the Cardis are much harder to find. We had to drive out of state to get our little boy, but he is well worth the drive. :)

My oldest daughter lives in Florida--no Corgi, but is planning to attend the Tampa Bay Meet-up because she misses our pack!. Trust me Corgi people will understand! There are places I go to when I travel to work just because the owner has a Corgi...

Welcome Abbea...you picked a great breed. maybe there is a Corgi meet up in your area and you can get a live Corgi fix! This is a good place to find out about the good, the bad and the hilarious side of this wonderful breed. I have four right now. Good luck to you.--Kristen
