I think I lost something in the translation. Who's Kate?
Anne Bowes is one of the renowned Corgi breeders and her Heronsway Kennel.
Ironic that I study breeders and the type of dog they produce. I love long and low Corgis (Pems) with a flashy white collar and white on their face. And now I have this 5 mo. old rescue that is so different than any corgi (from a breeder or a rescue!) than I've ever owned. Rafa is such a goofy puppy. But, he is as sweet as they come. He just makes us laugh every minute. He's long in the leg, short coat, small eyes, but he's a tri (which is what i would have gotten because i never owned one), still a pup, and male. lucy's a bit miffed since his addition to our family. but, he's a love bug. and for a rehomed pup, he clearly wasn't mistreated, just malnourished. he loves everyone and everything he meets. he's mr. personality. no manners. Lucy and I are teaching him some. All in all, he's just a wonderful puppy.
We have mycorgi.com and doug and gromit to thank for getting him. this is such a wonderful site. anytime i'm feeling a bit down, i come to this site and look at corgi photos and videos. cheers me to my soul! glad to have made friends with you. your 3 are beautiful. i've never had 3...always 2. but since my kids have flown the coop, we felt we could fly with one corgi easily (yeah, right!). also, i'm home most of the time so i didn't feel the need for another corgi for companionship. once lucy reached 4, she was becoming as lazy as me (and i'm a lazy bum!), so I was thinking she might need a companion. plus, how can you look at these corgis on mycorgi.com and feel that one is enough?
I had a feeling about those photos. Almost added that they have the outer banks, Prince of Tides feel. I'm very familiar with Heronsway Kennel and Anne Bowes. I have had Corgis my whole life and own most of the old hardbound books and subscribed for years to the PWCCA newsletters with all the photos of the great kennels and champions. I picked most of my breeders from those newsletters. My daughter goes to Columbia in NYC. Coincidentally, she did her undergraduate in Raleigh-Durham at Duke. I love NC too! What is your daughter studying?
Lucy, Rafa & I are delighted to be friends. I miss NYC too. I grew up in NY and have been in S. CA for more than 30 yrs. My middle dgt. goes to school in NYC so I get to go back pretty often to visit. It's a fabulous city. I love the photos of your Corgi crew, esp. the ones by the water and the B/W pier. Where were they taken? The herding photos are also wonderful. Are your tris litter mates? They look alike.
Very interesting advice & coming from a very reliable source. Rafa was a rescue and already was lifting his leg when we got him at 16 wks. We just wanted to give him time to adapt to us before having the procedure. Given how easily it went, I'm glad we didn't wait any longer. He was beginning to "bother" Lucy and we felt it was time. Thanks. I'll remember this advice and pass it along. Makes sense.
Dear Miss Nancy,
AThank-you for all the compliments - I have to say that my mom (Monica) and I really enjoyed your pictures as well. What's better than one corgi? Three!!! They seem to have lots of fun together. Looking forward to meeting you all.
I think that Sunday morning should be good.....I want to check the weather for that day....since I cannot take a lot of extreme heat...I would guess that sometime between 9 and 10 a.m. would be good....Should not be too hot by then......Will give you a call this evening and will know about the weather projections then...I wonder if they aren't expecting rain for the weekend...
We are excited to meet you and your wonderful corgis.... Marion
Nancy: I know the trail you are referring too....actually have walked a small portion of it. I can walk either Sun or Mon....lets pick the one that is forecasted to be coolest.....Will give you a call Wed. evening if you are going to be home and maybe we can decide which day will be best and where to meet....Will be looking forward to talking to you. Love the photos of your dogs.
Hi, Nancy. I have finally landed back at my home base. Had a great time in Minnesota with the family.......Sure do love those sparkling waters ........and boy are they cold. Are you still doing the herding? What are the chances of joining with you? Do you do it in this heat? Hope you are having a wonderful summer.
Your Baby's are so beautiful! Thanks tell Linus sadly Gwenie isn't allowed to date she is young only 2&half! I am a nutter over corgi's what can I say.
I love the Dyson, its very powerful - Chinook likes to bark at it! We're hoping to get a Cardigan this fall, so the Dyson will really be put to the test! Cheers!
Thanks for your note - my husband and I were married in the Highlands of Scotland - his heritage is also Scottish. We go back every few years and love it. I wonder if you cook with beer? I've made some bread fro our brewery spent grain, and do include some of our ales in some recipes.... Three corgis - wow! We are hoping to get a Cardi this fall to go with Chinook Hops, our 1 year old PWC.
Hi Nancy,
Glad to be part of your group. Thanks for the flyball tips! It is suppose to be near 80 this weekend we will be able to practice. Will let you know if we have any questions. Love the pictures of your crew at the beach. Quincy LOVES the beach!
Michigan is a great state. Winter is not my favorite, but now that spring is here - all is well. I have a brother in Shelby Twp as well! Go figure!
Anyhew, let me know what colors you would like for the sweaters and I can make them. I need to be inspired to knit, and corgis are quite inspiring! This will be a nice, juicy project for me to tackle as I sit outiside while the kids, - with and without fur - play outside. Once completed, I only ask you throw a few dollars in the direction of your local animal shelter as far as payment is concerned.
So I'm excited! Let me know what colors and I'll get started!
Thanks - Gina
Nancy...I reworded my blog, I didn't intend to imply that I could knit sweaters for others. I would be doing good to get one sweater done for Riley. Perhaps the person Sam mentioned knits for others :)
Thanks so much for the information, Nancy.....Just let me know when....and we will do our dandest to join you....I feel a little apprehensive about this, but also very excited. I guess we start at the beginning.....Will be looking forward to hearing from you.
