Thanks for the comments. Walter is the same way, he only cares when we have it in our hands. He loves to run and half the time he isn't even chasing the dot, he's just running in a random direction :)

I used a laser pointer with Kipper all the time, the only time he cares about the laser pointer is when I pick it up, other than that he really doesn't care. I've read about laser pointers and ocd in dogs and I think it all depends on your dogs personality. Kipper likes the laser pointer because it gives him a reason to run back and forth. Just be sure when you don't have it your dog isn't still looking for it. =]

Beeee carefuuuuul.  I did this once and thought it was cute.  Then I did research online and never did it again.  It may be okay for Walter, but it was too much for Butters.
