The east-side glacier and permanent snow that were still here 11 years ago are almost entirely gone. Where my 9 y.o. daughter and I did a long, steep, exhilarating snow glissade down into a vast snow bowl 11 years ago, there is now nothing but bare rock, rubble, and dust. It is frightening -- and very sad -- to see the changes. Just the past 5 years show an astonishing difference.
