So I put Dodger's puppy bed in the wash since we found fleas on him and the entire thing got shredded. I did exactly what the washing instructions said and the thing got shredded. Is there any brand of dog bed that you like best?

Honestly over the year we never spent big money on a dog bed. Maybe $10 at the most at either Bed, bath and beyond or Big Lots. My dogs seem to like an old pillow or a stuffed toy to sleep on.

In Lilli's crate a human pillow fits perfectly. I cover it with an old, large Tshirt. Both are washable and easily replaceable. Being in the crate it is, luckily, invisible.

No particular brand, but I like the ones that are flat (like a stuffed mat) as they are easier to launder and cheaper to replace when needed. Just throw them in the wash like any other piece of laundry. If you're traveling it takes up minimal space and your dog can have their familiar bed that smells like home. The last dog bed I had with plush sides ended up shredded by the washer (we have an agitator style washer) so I will probably not get one like that again. :( Avoid suede too... it seems to rip so easily.

The flat ones are also versatile. You can put it in a crate or on one of those raised beds to create the comfort level, and look if you care about style. ;)

I just bought a dog bed cover from Target and stuffed it with an old blanket. A lot cheaper and easier to clean too! So far so good.

My favorite bed is a bed made by P.L.A.Y.  They are luxury dog beds meaning $$$$$ but totally worth the money. Franklin is a product model for them so I have received both beds free but now that I know there quality if I had a dog that actually used his bed on a regular basis (Franklin just uses it to carry around and shake and lay in once every week or so lol) then I would spend the money on it. I have a medium lounge bed (the one with the edges) and you can unzip the entire cover for washing or wash it all together. Its made from recycled water bottles so it is helpful for the environment too :-)

This video shows the beating this bed goes through. Its been 2 years of taking this daily and it only has a few tiny little tooth marks on it:

Thanks Linda and Heather! We ended up getting him a bed that comes with a zippers on it so we can wash it and this bed looks a lot more sturdy than the other one.

Geesh.....wish I could remember.  I got it years ago at WalMart.  Has a rolled fiber fill with a zippered cover and then a soft plush zippered cover over that.  I wash that thing (both covers) all the time and it has even frayed one bit.

KONG brand dog beds are very durable, I wash the cover of mine constantly and it is good as new.
