{sob!} Ruby the Corgi is at the vet's, recovering from this morning's spay surgery. Who would think the little pesker would be so missed during such a short absence?

Cassie has been moping about all day (though just now she remembered that the Purpose of Ball is to keep the human busy. Constantly). Luz the Cleaning Lady Extraordinaire was delighted to be able to clean frantically without interference. And the resident human has been very lonely for the little nuisance!

I'm not real thrilled about having to get her spayed right this moment. She's only six months old. But she'll be seven months as they roll me into the operating month this August. My son is taking off work to babysit me until I'm back on my dainty little feet...and he's bringing Charley the Golden Retriever, having no place else to leave him. Although Charley is an ex-boy, he'd surely be interested in a lovely little corgi in heat.

Given that it's a Fundamental Law of Physics that whatever can go wrong will go wrong, don't you just KNOW this puppy is gonna go into the heat the minute my son is stuck here taking care of me with his pooch in tow?

Absolutely.

Naturally.

So we don't get our Ruby back until tomorrow afternoon. Poor little poochie...she must be so scared. The vet's staffer called this noon to say she came through with no complications and seemed to be fine.

Sure hope that's so...

Lots of luck with that!  Katie was 4 when she was spayed and I had a hell of a time keeping her from running and jumping.

Oh my, you're not kidding. Other than being a little sleepy yesterday afternoon, she seems totally unaffected. Managed to keep a lid on the morning Race around the Yard...at least for today. Tomorrow???? They think I'm going to keep her quiet for a week. Har har!

If Ruby is anything like my Ellie was after her spay, they'll actually have trouble keeping her still!  I worried about Ellie, too, when she had her spay.  I worried that she would be scared (she was such a skittish little pup when around new people) and whimpering away in the little recovery kennel.  Hah!  I couldn't have been more wrong!

Turns out she was the life of the veterinarian's office, schmoozing all of the technicians to get extra attention and treats.  There were no less than a dozen pictures taken of various staff members cuddling her.  One even remain displayed on their website for two years.  And when I arrived to pick her up, she came charging out on the end of her leash like nothing had even happened to her!

Your little Ruby will be home before you know it, and probably have you at your wit's end as you try to keep her quiet so that she can heal.  Hang in there!  :)

Glad to hear she came thru with flying colors!  Most definitely be safe than sorry.
