Paper trouble
So, we got Bonnie on 02-01-09 with the promise of pedigree papers to come by mail... We've called several times, most times having to leave a message, the second and last time I actually spoke to the breeder was over two weeks ago when she said she had them and would send them "when she got around to it"! She was very rude and acted so annoyed that I had called it just put me off! I don't want to cause problems but it's getting very frustrating that we still have yet to receive the papers and she wont return our calls (and we've only called a few times) especially considering how much we paid for a purebred Corgi. I've now left it up to my other half, who handles these kind of things much better than I. He's written up an official complaint he plans to send to court... This is getting way out of hand, I mean how hard could it be to put papers in the mail?

I always show my puppy people their papers and have them fill them out and sign them when picking up a puppy, when the puppy is spayed or neutered I send the papers in to AKC. It has worked for me very well and my puppy people. Also anytime that a person contacts me about a question I have no problem calling them or e-mailing them. I tell my puppy people that they will never remember all the information that I give them, so ask questions when you can't remember and feel free to call me about any questions you have or problems or joys or accomplishments. No question is a stupid question and I often spend a hour on the phone with my puppy people. We have a corgi picnic every year that we all get together with all the corgis. I call my puppy people just to see how they and the puppy is doing. Sometime they are too nervous to call a breeder or don't even realize that a behavior their puppy is doing is going to be a problem when they are older. I have experience and knowledge about the breed and I always tell my puppy people to tap into that resource and if I can't answer their question right away I will find an answer. I take my responsibility as an educator of the breed very seriously!

I would but have never gotten an e-mail address for her... I'm sure she's busy, she works long hours, lives on a farm and has lots of dogs but she's also not the only one who lives there either... I wouldn't be upset in the least if she had told me what was going on or made even the slightest effort to keep me informed, I guess I just don't get whats so hard about putting mail in the box, I'm sure she pays her bills right?

When we picked up Finn his papers were not ready but the breeder said it was because he wanted to be sure we were going to decide to take Finn before putting it all in out names. It made sense considering the problems with the litter and the he new we had concerns about Finn's health since he wasn't walking very well at the time. He promised to mail the papers to us and I contacted him after not getting the papers for a month and he apologized and said he forgot to send them out. We had the papers the following week so everything turned out well. Our breeder can be hard to get a hold of. He's not good at returning phone calls but will always respond to emails even if it takes a couple days. It's ok, I know he's busy with his job and his dogs so I don't hold it against him. :) Sounds like this may not be the case with your breeder. There’s no reason for her to be rude and not return your calls at all. Have you tried emailing her?

With my last puppy the breeder did not have the papers yet BUT before I left I asked her to put this in writing that she had the papers but had not recieved them yet. I did get the papers soon after. As a breeder with my 1st litter just getting old enough to leave I registered them online and recieved their papers in about 1 week so if the people are doing there job as a breeder there should be NO reason for them not to have the papers by the time the pups are ready to go!

She said she had to send for them. This is our first time getting a puppy, I guess we didn't know better.

It is! Thanks for the comments! I sure will post in the breeder review! We're absolutely in love with our "baby" and in no way regret our decision to get her but it's been 2 months without papers or word from them, am I being too impatient?
