Thanks for the responses! I was just curious, we had talked to her owner a little bit about it. I could see her being part corgi mixed with a lighter boned dog. She is waaaaay slimmer than our Nibbler. It might be fun to do the DNA testing...I thought it would be cute if both of us had dogs with corgi in them! Either way, she is a sweet dog and I love watching her when her mommy is out of town! :)

i think your dog is mix but you love your dog who care's he or she mixed long as you love them both

What a cutie! It's so hard to tell with mixed breeds. I do see some potential Corgi in the face, but it could also be a Dachshund / Chihauha/ Rat Terrier cross and probably give you a similar face.

The other thing to keep in mind is that, honestly, sometimes "mixes" are really not a cross between something and something else. I read an interesting article once from some sort of dog professional who was talking about the DNA testing to see what "breed" your mix is, and she pointed out that the "mutt" is the natural order and "purebreds" are mostly new and some only a hundred years old or so. People would take the village dogs (mutts) and select them for certain traits, cross in other purebred dogs, until they found a type that was what they wanted and THEN close the stud book. So it is very possible to have a mutt who comes from a long line of mostly mutts. That does not make them any less adorable or lovable, of course!

Just thought I'd post the two pics above so you could make your own comparison of what Pepper might be. I can see a lot of Corgi in Pepper, especially if she/he came from a BYB. Don't let the tail "worry" you into thinking Pepper may not be Corgi -- a lot of bad breeders also don't dock the tails, let alone get them properly vetted before trying to sell or give them away.

Bella, a Cardi from BYB, found living underneath stock trailer in park across the street from my house. Posted on internet as Corg/mix, taken to Corgis and Critters in Texas, who saw the post and wanted her very badly. Bella was adopted out as such, Corgi from BYB. Unfortunately, those kind of breeders aren't breeding for the standards, just the money, so you get a lot of "whoops-a-daisies" out of the litters. However, they are very much as loveable as a good bloodline and have enough Corgi traits to steal our hearts away!

Far left, Frankie, a Pem Corgi from a BYB, found wandering the streets of Weatherford, Oklahoma. His ears, tail, and body style is much like Pepper's. Identified as "Corgi" by the vet clinic I adopted him from. However, upon closer examination, there are also traits of Rat Terrier in both Frankie and the pic of Pepper -- the feet are a giveaway.

She could be...her ears and face have corgi features...hard to say for sure! She's very cute!

I can see why they think it, the face looks corgi but the body doesn't. I would say there is a good chance she is part corgi, even if it is a small part. What ever she is, she is very cute.
