So Callie goes through phases where she will be perfectly fine, then she will throw up, then be fine again. How it usually goes is we get up, she runs around and begs for food, but doesn't eat the food just yet. Then she will play some more, pukes (twice), then goes off to eat her food. Then she carries through the day with no problems, only to repeat the thing the very next day. This will go on for a few days and then she will be fine for a week or so until it starts up again.

As some of you may know she had surgery not to long ago involving her intestines, and if she had just started this cycle I would take her in right away, but since she did this before the surgery I don't know what I should do. This is her first time doing this since the surgery, I thought all the stuff before the surgery was just effects of the growth. (Well once we knew there was something wrong.)

Like I said before she's completely normal, she begs for food, eats, drinks, pees, and poos like normal. She doesn't act any different except for a minute or so before and after the puking. The puke is just liquid too, sometimes with a yellowish color, sometimes clear.

I just don't know what to do, everything is normal expect for the puking.

So I gave Callie a snack before bed last night and she was fine this morning. Thanks for all the help. Callie thought she was the luckiest dog in the world for getting a snack with peanut butter before bed.

Sophie would puke like that - yellow and foamy - but she would wretch really hard for a few seconds before she threw up. This began after she was put on doggie pain meds for her back hip pain. She needs to be on it all the time. I took her to the vet - the ran a battery of tests and everything was fine. I experimented and found if I give her the doggie pain meds every other day she stopped throwing up. Every other day is also working with her pain management - she has plenty of energy and is a happy girl! If I give it to her even two days in a row she pukes. I found it sort of astounding that my Vet did not suggest it could be the meds. This happens on both kinds we had her on. Is Calle on doggie pain meds from her surgery? If so, it could be what is happening.

My Sidney is three and she throws up every now and then. I think it is normal if they are acting normal. I asked my vet why this happens. He told me that it was an upset stomach because she was hungry, and to just give her a little snack to make it better. It worked for a little while.

Last month she started throwing up every morning after she ran around. Every morning she would wake up and run back and forth rubbing her head on the sofa. Then 2 mins later she would throw up bile ( the yellow stuff). She stopped eating one day and was very sick, puking and not pooping. I brought her in to the vet, and it ended up being an obstruction. Not to scare you, but if it is something bad like an obstruction, they will start acting really sick. She stopped eating , drinking, and playing. She hasn't puked since they took out the obstruction. It was a bone that slowly got bigger over time.

It sounds like an empty tummy. I hope she feels better soon!

Sounds like empty tummy to me too. Soffie is our puker, but if she gets her night time snack after 9pm that most of the time will hold her over till breakfast. But it might not hurt to check with you vet just on "GP"

But aside from that... it sounds like Callie's doing good so that's great news!! : )

teddy use to do this in the early mornings too. my vet recommended to give her a dog cookie with some peanut butte on it since its a protein it will stay in the tummy longer and give it a coating to it so she wont puke in the mornings:)

The empty tummy makes sense to me also especially if she is running around in the am b/4 eating but also to check with you vet if this doesn't help would be wise! Good luck!

That makes sense! Tonight I will try giving her a snack before bed and see if it helps, if not I will call the Vet tomorrow and see what they suggest. Thanks for the input! I just didn't want to rush to vet and spend money I don't have for something that could be simple.
