I took Bella to  "A dogs life" in Sunnyvale for puppy socials.  Its first come first serve.  They put the pups in 4 different groups depending on there age and how outgoing they are.  They have one person in each group to watch over the activity and ensure they don't develop bad habits during play time. I highly recommend this play group.  I also did all of Bellas training at the same place with Nancy Weller.  CGC was at the same place but with a different instructor.  If you take Nancy's training classes, your dog should pretty much be ready for CGC as long as you trained during the classes.  Bella goes to daycare at the Pooch hotel which has a lot of space for te dogs to run and play.  Check them out on the web.

Hmmm I guess it's more of a puppy preschool class, not a social. I thought my friend said it was puppy playtime, but it looks like there's some teaching too - but aimed at 10 to 16 weeks or so. Note: your mileage may vary ... but a friend of mine takes her small dog to her small dog social and to her classes and LOVES it .... plus she just started having a nosework class! Here's her info:  http://www.adobedogs.com/preschool1016weeks.htm

Patty & Frodo, where are the puppy socials in Los Altos? :] I'd love to bring Hades by!

Bartleby - if you are closer to the south bay, I know that there's a great pup social held in Los Altos. Let me know if you need their info. Yes, take the pup to a puppy social until the are 16 weeks - then come on by!!  :)

Hi, Veronica,

I will let somebody else speak about sitting - I use Klub K-9 in Sunnyvale as a cageless boarding facility. However, for training, you'll get a lot of good suggestions! I hear a LOT of good stuff about Sirius, although I didn't use them (too pricey). I did training at the Santa Clara Dog Training Club on Tuesday nights at the fairgrounds - much cheaper ($80 a class) but they DO sort of assume you have trained before as the classes are bigger. I'm about to take a Nosework class at Downtown Dogs with Crystal in downtown San Jose (also pricey) so I'll let everyone know how that goes!

Hi Everyone. We live in Santa Clara. We are looking for a good doggy sitter and a trainer in Silicon Valley. Any suggestions?

@Bartleby ~ Congratulations on your new baby!  If you want to socialize your pup before he's 16 weeks (a great idea), there are several regular puppy socials you can take him to.  These are run by professional trainers, and all of the pups just have to be current on their shots, but don't have to have their final ones.  We started at 11 weeks at Bravo Pup in Oakland, but there are ones at Metro Dog in Richmond, and I know SF has some.  They are a blast.

Pups should have had their final vaccinations, usually given at 16 weeks.

How old should the pups be before bringing them to meetups? Mine is 11 weeks

Wow we didn't know there are this many meet ups every month.  We must attend one ASAP.
