A friend of mine said she has given baby aspirin or buffered aspirin to her dog in the past....
So I "googled" baby aspirin for dogs to which there are mixed reviews.  Has anyone ever given their dog baby aspirin for joint stiffness or sore muscles?   If so what was your experience/results?

Thanks Michelle!  I actually gave him 1 baby aspirin last night after he ate and noticed a difference within an hour.  No limping all night long.  He even seems better today.

That is excellent!!!  Go Quincy!!!  ^,,^

Costco used to sell gluocamine/chondroitin/MSM for pets at a low price.  I checked it out at our local boutique pet store, and almost laughed when told the price ($70+!).  I'm going to get the human-grade stuff, figure the dose, and feed them that.  Some people get the equine stuff, larger quantity and cheaper.   ????
We started supplementing with a glucosamine / chondroitin joint supplement.  I've used the combination on my horse for years with really great results, and we've already noticed a difference in Tegan over the last couple of months.  It helps the joint stiffness instead of just helping with the pain. You do have to start with a loading dose, and then can go maintenance.  There are a lot of brands for dogs -- I know Cosequin is a good one. I get ours from Smartpak.  You may also want to ask your vet about anti-inflammatory medication, which can help with arthritis inflammation if that's part of the issue.  Good luck!!
Thanks! Quincy is on Arthrisoothe same as Cosequin.  The Vet put him back to the "loading" dose and also gave him and herbal tendon and ligament powder.  He has been back on the increased dose and the new powder a little over a week.  He seems better than he was, I guess it is just going to take time.  Thanks again for you input! :)
Had the same symptoms with my 5 year old...liimping after resting.  My vet told me to try baby aspirin for just a few days and it helped with no other problems. i gave it to Tom with a meal in the a.m. The limping went away after about a week and has returned just once more. I treated it the same wayjj--baby asprin for 3-4 days.
That is great to hear!  I gave him one last night and I noticed a difference in an hour.

I will never give my dog baby aspirin again, I almost lost him.I read online that baby aspirin is the only safe over the counter med to give to a dog.My big dog was suffering from a hot spot and was panting a lot, so we decided to give him the aspirin to make him more comfortable.

We didn't expect him to drop the sausage with the enbedded aspirin and my Corgi to eat it instead and that is where it all started.

The next morning my Corgi could hardly walk anymore and we rushed him to the vet, he had to be put on IV fluids and stay there all day to get treated for aspirin poisoning.

PLEASE do not experiment with aspirin, it nearly cost Toby his life.

Was it a large dose for a big dog?  Or maybe Toby has an "allergy"?  I've been giving my dogs baby aspirin for years, although never for more than a few days at a time for soreness, or a mild fever, and I've never had a problem.

Yes, it was meant for my big dog who dropped the sausage with the aspirin that was meant for him.My Corgi leaped in out of nowhere and inhaled it.

I am not against using aspirin just super cautious from now on,That goes with any medication.I have to seperate the 2 dogs as Toby (my Corgi) is always trying to steal Monty's food and he usually gets away with it.

I just called the vet on this last week when Tank came home on 3 legs after a "run". I gave him them 1 night and then the next am. He did fine with them and it seems to have helped with the pain. Years ago I gave my cocker aspirin (ecoteric) coated for arthritis. I would recommend asking your vet if it's for long term use.

The vet also WARNED...NEVER Tylenol or Advil!!!!!!!!!!!

I've given my 28 lb corgi baby aspirin under the same circumstances: a little limping after a rough play session.  As jane posted, my vet suggested one at night and one the next day. No problems at all and the limping stopped, too.
