Bailey was Broken - So it was time to get "FIXED".

I just thought that would be a funny title to use for this blog.  I always thought it was humorous when people would refer to getting a dog neutered or spayed as getting him/her "fixed".  I have 2 nephews, one is 8 and the other is 4.  Zachary (the 8-year old) understood what was happening so we used the appropriate terminology.  However, we told Ryan (the 4-year-old) that Bailey was getting fixed.  He replied....."how did Bailey get broken?"  Gotta love kids.

Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck yesterday waiting for the phone call that is was ok and I could come and get him.  Luckily, everything went quick and I brought him home yesterday afternoon in his sporty elizabethan collar.  He was petrified.  He would not sit down.  He stood there next to my feet with a look on his face that was a mixture of "Daddy, why are you doing this to me?" and "Dude, I'm gonna kill you while you sleep!"  It took him most of the afternoon and evening to learn how to get comfortable with the collar on.  He had no problems drinking and even enjoyed a small helping of kibble mixed with some steamed rice.

It wasn't until late last night that he rolled over on the bed into the usual "corgi sleeping position" (on back, legs spread).

Today, he lounged with me all day, sleeping in his funny positions.  And finally, it was this evening that he tried his best to play with his favorite toys (damned collar - he hates it even though he is getting used to it).  6 more days of the collar until his stitches come out.

Joy and fun!

If I were a vet I'd hang out a shingle or marquee:

"DOG REPAIR"

My husband actually calls it "getting broken".  When our girls went in he told everyone they were going to the vet to "get broken".

I with you on this one.  I've never understood why people referred to it as "being fixed."  Your youngest nephew's response was priceless, though!  :)

Poor Bailey and his Cone of Shame!  Hopefully he has a quick and easy recovery so he can get back to frapping and training his human.

Ah, the dread "cone of shame," the final indignity to getting "fixed."    Gromit sends his get well wishes, you'll be frapping again in no time.
