Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if anyone was interested in planning or wanted to throw ideas out for this years corgi picnic.  It's been awhile since Carter has seen anyone of you guys and I know he misses his corgi buddies =D

~~Please send some love to Christina.  She planned last years picnic and is unable to continue to plan due to health issues.~~

Here are some of the ideas that have been thrown out there

- Freeport (Freeport Doggie Website) is where we had it last year.  We could do the same thing last time and do like a potluck type thing.  I don't know if Mike & Lisa wanted to plan it again.

Wasn't sure if you guys wanted to go to the same place.  I found a dog park in Hoffman Estates (Bo's Dog Park).  I've never been there but the park looks nice.  I'm not sure if they have day passes though and if they would let us have the picnic there.

Just trying to throw ideas out there. Let me know what you guys think or if you want to plan it =D

Hope to see everyone and their corgi's soon!

Okay good! I was worried there, I thought a potluck was a wonderful idea, bringing your own food and everything included in the plates seems so selfish! I agree with the social eating idea. That will bring a lot of people together. Regardless of cooking skill, thats the fun, theres things nobody could ever mess up like a macaroni salad or something of the like, or if someone really just cannot cook they could perhaps be in charge of the plates.cups utensils etc. or some extra liters of soda etc. Just some thoughts.

OOPS!  You need to read more of the discussions.  I was hopping that we could do a potluck for socializing, etc.  However, others thought it might be better for everyone to BYO.  The park wants to charge $50 for a pavilion.  So, the most recent discussion has thrown out the potluck.  I think we are letting everyone bring their own picnic lunch to the park, but we can still take a break and sit and eat together.

Also, since we were having trouble getting much feedback on this discussion we did not want one person in charge of plates, for example, who might not show up that day.  OR have the about 5 or 6 people who are planning this in charge of the paper goods and then no one else shows up so we have no food.

Read through to page 16 and you will see how things are evolving...

Potluck sounds like a great idea!  Have we agreed on Bo's?  Is the picnic now for Sept 11 for sure?
Yes, I think we are looking towards the 11th and Bo's.  We are just waiting to hear back from the dog park to make it official =D

Once it becomes official we can post an event so the surround states if they wanna come they're welcome to

I totally agree with you.  We should put it on that front events board.

There were quite a lot of people from Illinois at the Wisconsin Corgi Picnic.  Maybe some of the Wisconsin people will come to this one.  We should also post it on Chicago Corgis, Wisconsin Corgis, Iowa...

I will let my Pet Parents I know at work and Trainers from my district know if they have any corgis to have them contact me
Hey everyone!   I just got a response back from Debbie the facility manager at Bo's.  She said she would absolutely love if we had our get together there.  In order to get into the park we do need to show paper work to show that all dogs are up to date on all vaccines including Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Para Influenza, Parvo Virus, Bordatella, Leptospirosis, and a current negative fecal test.  Inside of Bo's there isn't any human food allowed so we won't be able to have a picnic.  I sent her another e-mail asking if there was a place near the park we could possibly have a picnic.  If there is not, she is willing to drop the price to 3 dollars instead of 5.  What does everyone think?  Do we still want to go to Bo's if we can't have the picnic?

I'll agree with whatever the group says, but I am disapointed that we can not picnic there.

Would we rather picnic and drive to Freeport?  Or not picnic and go to Hoffman Estates?

Send your comments.

Hi everyone!

I'm also new to the group. I've been monitoring this to see where all you would end up. Lilah and I are in Central Illinois - Mattoon. I'd love to drive up the 11th if possible. However, Lilah is only 15 weeks old and I'm not sure she has all those vaccinations. Will have to check. She just got her final puppy shots with Rabies a week ago and I know I haven't done any kind of fecal test.

When my pup was 4 months and had all her shots, including rabies, the vet gave me the OK.  So, ask your vet.  I was surprised that Hoffman Estates wants a fecal test.  Wynne had one last month for her check up, but I am not sure when Will had one.  If we go to Hoffman Estates, I might have to have him tested and get all that written up from the vet.

What do you think about picnic or no picnic?

Switch back to Freeport and have a picnic or go to Hoffman and not have the picnic?

I am curious what others think.

Hi,

I haven't yet looked up the exact locations of these parks. I'm not that familiar with the Chicago suburbs. However, I think it would be nice to have some food and drink at hand for the humans. If no human food is allowed...what about canine food (treats?)?
