Oh my- I totally agree with you!  And I've also seen a lot of things that got "rewarded" that should have had ribbons withheld.

Have you taken a look at the AKC's new judge licensing proposal that's going around?  Not sure if that will help or hinder.

Ok, I am going to broaden the judging review to the entire country this past weekend.  Just checked some results and I must say I saw a show result that pretty much stunned me.  I've seen a dog that got BOB over specials and other very nice dogs this weekend and will say I'm baffled at how that happened.

Finally got on!  need to get the computer cleaned out, tons of registry errors and the like.

I guess my point was well missed.  Alec was at the show this weekend.  He watched cwc, pwc and many other breeds.  Judges had to be substitued and the like.  Overall, he's not commenting on the fact that there weren't quality dogs handled by O/H but overall, the judging was all over the board and many many quality dogs handled by the pros were dumped, along with nice O/H dogs.  He really wanted to question the judges as to why they did what they did.

We talk each day after the showing is done and compare notes, when he travels by himself.  I get commentary on his dogs he's showing as well as other breeds.  He also has tons of friends at the shows and spends a lot of time catching up-not just collie but cwc, pwc and loads of other breeds.

Ditto Vicky.  I'm not worried if a judge wasn't "handler" friendly or whatever. Different judge, different day, it's how showing dogs goes.  A good dog will get his due at any rate.  I realize some judges get "hung up" on certain things, anti-handler, anti-puppy, head hunters, and handler hunters.  Inequities are inevitable in both judge and handler, pro or AOH.

yes, i can remember waiting for joker's first breed pic, although i did get to see it at the show. they could bring up the pic on a screen. they just didn't do the making of the picture at the show like some do. and then his second breed pic, i wish i could have seen it before i got it in the mail. not real pleased but it was like 400 degrees out there so i didn't care. and i have to respond to cindy's comment. although most of the time handlers have the finer dogs, sometimes a non-pro handled dog shines a tad more than the rest. i can think back over the years and remember the "pro's" i beat. and, i always said when the dogs i handled won, it was because i showed was because i was showing a quality dog and i was nobody comapred to some that i beat. you have to remember back to when you started handling and were the non-pro handler in the ring. and then you have to remember the first win you had over the pro and how you felt. too many of us forget our beginnings and that goes for the judges also. but either way, owner handled or pro handled, we are always proud and happy when we get reconized in the ring. so, has charlie finished yet?? none of you guys post here anymore so no one knows what's going on with your hounds. hope all is well. where ever you are. take care

and CAndace... cindy cant get on my corgi just now but  asked me to  add this about  shows last weekend...

Oh and I can’t log on to Mycorgi right now but you can add a comment for me about the Purina Shows last weekend.  Alec agrees with the observations, the judges were not handler friendly at all, actually dumping many quality dogs for much less quality.  And the judging overall was, well, not consistent at all.

No he didn't get entered for the 3 days at Gray Summit.  Linda is going to the Nationals next weekend so won't be there.

Then it's the weekend after that is the Hot Springs shows.  Still waiting on those first win pictures,,,ugh they take forever sometimes.

hey, that's still a nice brag. it's nice when people also let us know how they do even when they don't do that good. i pulled up those show results and saw the judge apparently was not to nice to any of the handlers. it' happens. you should check out the g. sheps the first day. he put up the class dog from the american bred class over a special for breed. but, you know what candance??? a big congrats on wilson's reserve. when are the hot springs shows?? is he entered in the 3 day weekend at gray summett?? not a usual entry for those shows. take care. how's the baby coming along?actually, how are you doing?
