My husband and I found Lee English online, and while he was deployed I begged and begged him for a pup, and he emailed me saying "Look at our new dog!"

I'm thrilled with him and want to visit him soon, he's almost five weeks old. I'm a little disappointed in communication about him though, I asked if he has any personality whatsoever and she gave me a short reply, "It's too soon to tell. -Lee"

Ive looked all over the internet for more information on her, and on Beauregard's parents (Little Man and Emmy Lou) and want to know if anyone else was... tentative in asking Lee questions, and their overall impression of her.

: ) Jenny, I was hoping you'd chime in!  It's great to hear the update on Charlotte too!

. While it is true you learn more between 6 and 8 weeks of age (and a pup should never be sold prior to 8 weeks simply because they need to be with their littermates until that time if to learn nothing else but bite inhibition - I bite you - you'll bite me back!! <g>)  I'll have to  disagree  that @ 5 weeks there is little to tell about a pup's personality.  By watching litters from birth, you can get a really good idea if they are going to be dominant, submissive or independent in personality just by watching them sleep and usually within the first week!!

A great place to start looking for a Pembroke is the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America website at http://www.pwcca.org/memberlist.cfm  You can search by state or by first or last name for a breeder.  The PWCCA is the AKC recognized parent club for the breed in the USA.  They
joined the AKC in 1935.   All members of the PWCCA are signers of the
Code of Ethics http://www.pwcca.org/code_ethics.html
so you know you are getting a quality dog from a responsible breeder.

Please remember that you cannot trust everything you read on the internet.  Folks can make up anything they want to put out there.  For a reliable source of information on any breed, go to
the parent club for the breed or to one of the regional clubs that are
affiliated with the parent club. For the list of clubs (which also
include their websites and the address of their rescue contact) go to http://www.pwcca.org/aclubs.html  Members of affiliated clubs must also sign the COE even if not also a member of PWCCA.   There are also very informative articles to be found on the PWCCA site!

12 years ago we got Roper as a pup from Lee English.  You can see how nice he was on his Roper Flynn Facebook page.  Roper died on 1-11-11 after an 18 month struggle with diabetes....which we contributed to by allowing him to eat people food till he got pancratitis...our fault not genetic....he was a one of a kind and so sociable, and knew how to act in the house beautifully.  So last Saturday we were back in Lecanto and picked a Harry Potter little girl born the day Roper passed over the bridge and a Tucker and Shorty male pup born on 12-22-10.  We could not be more pleased or excited.  Right now she is super busy with three litters of hers and one litter of a friend of hers....I know from years back of having a litter in the house that time can be a factor.....I have had excellent response to emails over the last 12 years and now....also plan to go visit Clyde when convenient with Lee.  She is spending her time making sure each newborn gets the best care.  As for outside....while at the Crufts Show in London one year I commented on how hardy the dogs were and was told it was because they spent more time outdoors from early on.....now compare London's temps to ours...... they have their heat lamps and pups do know how to search out and find the warm spot as they learned that in the whelping box before their eyes were open....you have to sit and spend time watching the pups react over a period of time to get a really good idea of personality...and then the personality can change to meet the personality of your household once they are with you awhile...shy pup or aggressive pup to be 100 percent on you would have to watch and be there daily offering variable situations to chart reactions....and yes watching them sleep, nurse, fight for a lunch counter on Mom can tell you alot.....Lee has been raising these pups for years and I trusted her 12 years ago and trust her now.

I've known Lee English for 7 yrs now.  I got to know her well from my work at an animal hosp in Homosassa Fla. and she would bring in her beautiful corgi pups for their health certs.  She is a wonderful person and loves her corgis very much.  Not many breeders will sell you a dog and take it back if it doesnt work out.  She makes sure that her pups are parasite free and in the best of health  Every time she came in with her pups I would fall deeply in love with the breed.  Her pups are of good breeding and come out to be wonderful pets.  She does very well with the socializing with her grandchildren to help.  I finally got my corgi from Lee when she brought in a pup that she felt wasnt sellable but needed a good home because of a grade 2 heart murmur.  Bilbo is now 16 months old and no longer has a heart murmur)  His dad is Tucker and mom is Roseanne.

My opinion about the critical socialization time.  I like the pups to be with the dog family 8-9 weeks helps build confidence and about biting.  As far as worrying about a pup getting aclimated to noise that is our job.  It dosent matter where they are inside or outside it is our reaction to the fear if a pup is startled by the noise.  Early training is critical and learn not to  feed the fear by coddling or speaking with a baby voice.   Bilbo is perfectly fine inside and outside with noises.  I get to take him to work with me so that is a big plus with socialization.  You need to expose your pup to everything and when there is a fearful time let the pup work it out on their own and most importantly keep calm!  Praise when they are relaxed.

So Allison feel proud to be getting a pup from Lee English she is a honest breeder and you will own a wonderful pup.  She is absolutely adorable too!

Love the name Bilbo for a corgi pup! Super cute!!

Hi

Well, Our Little Man puppy, Clyde is here now for three weeks.  Born 12-22-10.  He is a delight.  His outside time at Lee's has made him easy to train.  He is well mannered and is just the sweetest....I call her when ever I have a question and send lots email photos.....we have a new 8 week old little girl from Lee's friend, Linda Fuller, now and she and Clyde are cuddle buddies.  Send photos and emails to her....her answers tho sometimes short are probably because the corgis do come first.  She does a great job with them too...

Lee English is fantastic :) I honestly wish I lived closer to her so I could bring my pup to visit her. Her emails are usually short replies but once you meet her in person she'll be more than willing to talk with you for hours and answer any and all questions you have, sometimes it's easier to call her too. We got Ein (Sable and Harry Potter pup) from her and we were able to come up the first week his born to visit the puppies and pick him out of the litter and proceeded to come back every other week until we took him home at 8 weeks. We're now getting our second puppy, Tesla (Cher and Tucker pup), from her.

Lee takes excellent care of her dogs and loves them like family. As far as the personality of the puppies goes Ein didn't have a personality honestly, he was "Meh" every time we came to see him and I worried that was a little special. Lee assured that if there was ANYTHING wrong with him that she would take him back and we'd get first pick from the next litter or if we couldn't keep him later on down the road for any reason that she'd gladly take him in. Ein started showing who he was about two weeks after we brought him home and he's been the most easy going and loving dog ever. We regularly attend local corgi meet ups and I swear it's as if Lee's dogs can find each other out of a group. I've never met one of her puppies/dogs that was sick or ill tempered in any way.

Lee is also not afraid to tell you that she won't sell you a puppy if she feels you won't be a responsible owner or are getting a puppy for the wrong reasons. It's not about the dollar amount the puppies bring in, she's also very concerned about the type of home they're going to and the type of person looking to bring them home. Set up a time to visit her if you can or just ask her to call you and you can talk about the puppies and what to expect.

Hi

We have Bonnie born 1-11-11 out of Sable and Harry....she is adorable and such a good playmate of Clyde.  Twelve years ago when we got Roper from Lee we could not have been more pleased.  Clyde and Bonnie are our little babies and sooo spoiled.  Both puppies now 4 months and 3 months old are healthy and so well adjusted to even travel all the way to our Tennessee home and not even get car sick.  Bonnie is such a "talker" and Clyde is a lover.  Bonnie has a flatcoat which is so easy to care for.  Clyde's coat is turning into a gorgeous corgi coat and he looks so very much like our Roper, who went to the bridge the same morning that Bonnie was born.....we too visited several times and just loved our visits.....Lee is truly the Corgi Lady.

Hey Ally,

my fiancée and i I am in the process of getting a pup from Lee and i havent heard back from her since my second inqury. I cant find much a bout her on-line (good or bad) but in truth its hard to find info on breeders... its so confusing!!! I was wondering what was going on with you and your pup?

I will keep investigeting and fill you in if i hear anything!

best,

cynthia

I can only speak for myself but our dog Charlotte (which we got from Lee) is such a great dog.  She's just over a year old now.  She just went to the vet last week for routine shots and he was totally in love with her.  She's very healthy, very smart, sooo agile and fast - just overall a fantastic dog.  Plus she's got beautiful markings and such a sweet temperament.  So I'd recommend Lee for sure!

Also, if you want another EXCELLENT breeder in the area - check out Celestial Star Kennels.

Celeste is where we got our other dog Stanley from.  And I have to be a boastful mom and say I think I have the most awesome dogs in the world :)

You are the best! Thanks! We are soooo excited to have a Corgi of our own! Congrats on your beautiful dogs!

Hey everyone.

I just want to leave a review. In sorry for my spelling and writing skills but I'm French.
We got our Charlie from Lee English. And let me tell yo that I'm really happy with her.
She might be short in answer when it concerns email but you can talk with her for HOURS when you are going to see the puppies. She let us see Charlke every single week even more if we wanted. Her instructions are really clear and we know that if we need help we can call her.
Charlie is already really smart and pretty easy to housebreak.

Do not hesitate a minute and don't given yourself an opinion just with an email.
