This is disturbing. Surfing Craigslist as I do daily for all things Corgi.. And here is what I stumble across:

http://anchorage.craigslist.org/pet/2920970077.html

Here is what it says if you are curious, but it does get flagged down before you get to see it:

"My Registered Pembroke Welsh Corgi is coming into heat in a a couple months and I am looking for a stud to breed her with.
I'm gearing up to start my own Corgi Puppy Mill. I'm getting a website ready to sell them on, and it will be up and running soon.
If anyone has any information on how to get this mill up and running smoothly, or any info to help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Call Cassandra at
(208) 713-2508."

I would call to try and talk her out of it except I have a feeling it wouldn't be too productive as the ad.. TICKS ME OFF to the point of where I know I would get frustrated and say things I shouldn't and end up not even convincing her. So if you think you can convince her and keep a level head, I think you should.

i have a horrid temper with people who do that kind of stuff. i am passing it on to somone who i know will call and keep a level head.

Are puppy mills legal in Alaska? If not, maybe you can contact the local animal control and they can take over?

From what I have just researched it seems that there aren't any puppy mill laws in Alaska :( ... It makes me sick to my stomach to read things about puppy mills. I wonder if there is someone else important someone could contact to handle that situation...

there is already one puppy mill in the Craigslist posters area, and one about 4 hours drive from me ( i live in anchorage) at least thats what my sources say. and we have wayyyy too many backyard breeders. and then there was this guy: http://www.alaskadispatch.com/article/willow-man-sentenced-animal-c...  . he bred and sold the puppies out of the back of his truck. and only fed the pups because he could sell them. he didnt feed or water the adults for god only knows how long.

and of course this too. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_PETS_WOLF_DOGS?SITE=AP&am... . its pretty bad up here for animals. pretty common to shoot dogs in the remote villages, the state veterinarian is trying to improve care laws for animals but a lot of people up here are opposed to  it. they think a tree is good enough shelter from the alaskan cold.

Looks like a joke to me.  But I'd call her, and if it's not a joke, inform her that it's really a bad joke.

Ummmm...I don't think I could keep a level head.  Think I'll try to get my point across anyway.

The fact that the poster used the term "puppy mill" (when it carries such a negative connotation thanks to the media), instead of, say, "breeding facility", leads me to believe that this is a troll. It wouldn't hurt to report/flag the post anyway, but if it's a troll then they just want to get people riled up. Unfortunately, it's pretty easy to do so with the dog-lover community, because we so fiercely love the well being of our pets.

I wonder if she really understands what the term "puppy mill" means.  Anyone with common sense would not advertise it and not expect a lot of negative attention.

I flagged it, but hoping that this is just some very stupid joke and the poster is looking for attention.  I hate reading the stud requests, and the "My male dog needs a mate" are even worse.

puppy mills are horrible:(

i read a story on a lady who adopted a corgi out of a mill, and this is a true story.i almost burst into tears when i found that the corgi died at just over a year old of I think it was either parvo or cancer.

from what i hear mills are terrible places.

by the way,did you know that the dogs and puppies you buy at a pet store are from mills?!

I'm sort of thinking that this is a troll, too.....like Ludi.  If so, not funny.  But I'd rather it be a troll than someone doing this for real!
