This is actually a two part question. First off how long did it take your corgi to get used to a collar/harness? And second how did you start leash training. Our corgi is starting to run almost too fast to catch so I know we'll have to sta4t using a leash now.

I started Lucy right away when I got her at 9 weeks. Like others have written, she became used to both collar and leash right away. I never experience any resistance from her to put on her collar or her leash. Leash-walking has been a process and she is much better at it now at 11 months--I admit I have not been as disciplined at teaching her on-leash walking as our wonderful local puppy trainer would like! Nonetheless, there are improvements. Off-leash walking on wooded trails has been great--Lucy stays pretty close, waits for me to catch up if she is ahead or runs to keep up with me. if she is absorbed in sniffing something, all I have to do is a quick slap to my thigh or a whistle and she comes running.

I have a 13 week old corgi that I brought home just last week.

I put a collar on him ASAP.  After 2 days, he stopped scratching at it.  Then I started to introduce the leash...say leash, he'd tap it with his nose and I'd give him a kibble.  We did that about 20 times and then we did something else.  We repeated this 2 times daily and by the 5 day with us, he loved his leash (cause he was fed...).  Now we are walking with it for 30 to 50 ft at a time and he's getting a better treat for walking...string cheese.  So far so good.  It's my first corgi so I'm not sure if I'm doing it properly, but it seems to be working.

Good luck!

To get him to walk on a leash it was a lot of encouragement, but I had it pretty easy because I had my Abbie and Ben just came with us,he soon learned.

As I started to leash train Ben I noticed he pulled a lot so I tried a harness, much better for him,IMO, much better for me,he now loves his walkies harness

I have always used a leash right away and just mostly followed the pup around at first until they got used to it. Gradually I started moving the puppy around with me using puppy talk.

The two dogs I've worked with (Hershi started out as a puppy) got used to the leash pretty quick.  If you're deciding collar or harness, I say get both and see which one she likes better and go with it.  Just have lots of treats for good leashed behavior and hopefully she will associate the leash with a good thing.

So it could go like this :  She lets you put the collar on, treat.  She lets you put the leash on, treat.  She follows you while leash is on, treat.  And so on... Make it a fun experience.
