UNCLE TIMMY!! Please ask your mom to check your gmail email. Mom sent a reply to your comments on our blog and we hope you got them. Loved hearing from you :)
Woo hoo. Ricky-Rafa got his stitches off today and as long as he's not giving the area too much attention (he isn't) he doesn't need to use the collar. So far so good. We'll put it on when we leave him alone. He goes back for xrays in a month. Til then two 10 min. walks a day––nor jumping or running. So we'll have to keep him on a lead when he's not in his xpen. He's getting used to the routine. Depending on the xrays, he may not need physical therapy. The surgeon said that with this surgery PT usually isn't needed.
Did you have another Corgi or dog during Timmy's recovery. I think it would be so much easier to restrict Ricky if he didn't have Lucy egging him on. I also have a husband who can be a bit reckless (maybe too strong a word). Let's say he's not as cautious as I am. But, I want to do whatever I can to avoid this again. I don't know how it happened. Any info you can share to help me prevent a future ACL injury down the line will be so greatly appreciated. Tried to friend you, but mycorgi was slow, and i wanted to get this message to you, while I have RR happily eating a kong w/o his cone, so i get some time to type w/o looking at him every second. Today the stitches must be tighter, and he's more interested in them now. Earlier he wasn't. So he's had to wear the cone pretty much 24/7. he's been whining and staring at me all day, til the kong.
Do you remember if the cone of shame needed to be worn after the stitches/ staples were removed. I suspect that the better he feels, the more difficult it will be to contain him from his 2-yr old corgi exuberance, and his sister aiding & abetting full-on FRAP.
Glad to hear that Timmy did so well. Ricky will be 2 wks. tomorrow and the stitches are going to be removed. I'm terrified of his needing this down the road in his other leg.
Hi back to You and Timmy.Hope all is well.Love Your neck of the woods, but a little far for a 31/2 day trip.So We found a beautiful park in Gualala,in the redwoods,on the river, but close enough to get to the beach.Plus only an hour trip to the Mendocino Botanical Gardens.Love that place because pups are allowed to wander the 40 acres with Us :).I know You are a fellow Rver,so hope Your hittin the trail once and awhile too!
Have a wonderful time.We did a 2 weeker in those areas the first of the year :).I laughed when I saw You named Your RV.We named Ours The Apt because We felt like We were back in the early days of Our marriage when everything had to be small, like in an RV.
Hi Sylvia, noticed You haven't been on here in a while?Hope all is ok and maybe Your life has just gotten busy :).Merlin is doing fantastic now after his 2 surgeries.Hope Mr.Timmy is doing well too.Take care..
That's right! we do remmeber that, but for some reason I thought it was another more-recent injury that uncle timmy had. Should've checked the dates of the postings! Sorry about that. Glad to know hes a-ok!!
Thanks! Yes we got all your comments - esp the most recent one about his birthday. Thanks for the birthday wishes!!!!
Hi there from the Napa corgis!!Thanx for the new friend acceptance.Couple questions abouth your post-op experience with Timmy. It's been a week and Merlin wants to do everything like before the surgery.I don't think He knows what pain means!!The vet called Us back today after I was concerned about Him doing too much, and He stated again that the only really bad thing foe Him right now, would be to run up some stairs or do a quick herding corner.
What do you feel about recovery times after just going thru this with Timmy?
Thanks for the welcome! I posted a few pictures, but none of Harvey, our newest addition. I'll add one of him soon. My trio -- shoving each other aside for space on my feet as i write this -- send greetings from the other coast (we're in Delaware.)
