Anyone going to Barktoberfest today in Milwaukee?

Patrick and Tina........... I have already started on plans for next years raffle and we are going to do a kids raffle. This will be just for the kids to buy tickets for. Andrea and I have already talked about it and the tickets will be .50 a ticket, 3 for $1.00. I don't have any idea how many have kids or the ages so any and all input on this will be helpful. I am very open to suggestions  for this. If you or anyone has any ideas/suggestions, e-mail me at: corgi97@aol.com. put PICNIC in the subjest line.

I have a few new ideas for raffle items. I was going to wait until January, but it looks like I will be starting sooner. Officially though, I'm not pushing anything until the beginning of the new year.

But, all are invited to send me their thoughts. I am probably going to stay with a few of the same, only different. I liked the wine baskets and the kid's school stuff. I know school is already in by the time we have out picnic, but what's a little extra.

I'm going to take my time on this. My very good friend in Oklahoma is already thinking on it and another friend has already starting picking up items. and my other friend said she will be putting some things together during the year.

So, the ball is rolling already. will be watching for everyone's e-mails. I know we have plenty of time, but Ii have started a file just for the 2014 picnic.

Thanks again to everyone that came to the picnic. Looking forward to seeing you in a year and hopefully a few new faces. Take care..............

That is a great idea.  This year we found a nephew of my 2 Corgis just because they looked so much alike.  However, if there was a sign in like that people could look thru the info and find those connections.

I like the map idea. I have been trying to come up with a way to find out where everyone has come from--thought about doing a sign in sheet/book. I know next year I plan on having a table set up right as you come in that will have some information on it--like about the rescues, who the breeders/trainers are and anything else that might be important to know.

I agree with Patrick's comment below that the picnic always goes too fast.

Is it possible to start a bit earlier...maybe11am?  It would be nice to have a little time to socialize before lunch.  It feels like as soon as we arrive, we have to get the food organized.  Then it's eat lunch immediately, take pictures, raffle, and run home.

I know I am not around to help out since I am 4 hours away, so you guys that do all the work must make those decisions.  It is just an idea.  There were so many people at this year's event and I felt I barely go time to meet or talk to them.

A message from Vicky Hyde that was posted onto the Facebook page (in case you don't do the Facebook thing):

Ok.............. well waiting until January before doodling with the next raffle is not working out.
I have an idea but seriously need in put form our picnic goers.
I am thinking of doing a KID"S ONLY table for part of the raffle. Problem is............... I need 2 different age groups to do this for. Being anon-2-legged kid parent, I'm not sure what the division should be. HELP!!!
I will be like looking for donations for single items for the kids table also.
We are going to do like .50 per ticket or 3/$1.00.
Also, any other kind of suggestions would be very helpful.
Please e-mail me at: corgi97@aol.com
Thanks much and I hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed their raffle loot! Take Care, Vicky.
PS( I know we just got done with our picnic and you may seem to think it is too early to start this already, but for some un-corgley reason, next years raffle won't leave my mind. I want to out do this last one. Thanks again)

I got a Thank You card from Kathy DuVall at FaerieLand Rescue today. Also, please feel free to check out her site and see the Corgis we have helped with our donation! She is also always looking for people interested in adoption or fostering.

Hello All,

The long-haired girl/fluffy in the picture and giving hugs is Charity Lee from Antioch, IL. We loved the picnic and meeting everyone. Charity will be 2 in a couple of weeks and is just as sweet as she looks! Matter of fact, her demeanor and friendliness at the picnic inspired us to go into training for her Canine Good Citizenship Certificate and become a therapy dog. Turns out these next steps are harder for me than for Charity!

Anyone else done this?

What a cute picture! Corgi hugs are the best kind of hugs!! I don't know who she is either but she was very sweet!
