Changing food from commercial to homemade

I can't go on feeding my Corgis any food that I can buy in the store without thinking that I might be putting them at risk. I need a clear understanding of exactly I can make in my home with human grade food that will be the best for my dogs. Everything I read is sketchy and the percentages of protein and carbs varies too much to be exact.
I am committed to finding a better way and will not continue to trust these "bags of food" with my dogs lives.

Does anyone have any knowledge on ways to provide nutrition for my Corgis?

Thank you!

It is very hard to cook a balanced homemade diet. This is the book my vet uses and we photocopy pages for clients: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0813821495/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_d4_i...

Honest Kitchen is a dehydrated raw food that is made in the US and labeled Human Grade. They have to go through all the same restrictions human food is put through to be able to put that on the label. They are the only dog food company in the US that has this distinction For kibble Acana and Orijen are the only kibbles that are made with ingredients that are also labeled Human Grade, the are produced in Canada.

You can also consult your vet and they can put you in touch with the local veterinary teaching hospital who can formulate a home cooked diet plan for you. One of the absolute WORST things you can do (and I do mean worse than feeding the cheapest bag of store bought kibble) is an unbalanced home cooked diet. Many of the diets found on a typical Google search will fall in this category. Consult a vet, if your vet doesn't support you, consult a homeopathic vet.

I have a book on this but don't have any idea where it is. Yes, you have to be careful to add all the different minerals vitamins they may need.
