im getting exhausted from trying to tire Baden out! lol i dont mind so much as i am very active and like to stay busy but its hard to keep him happy at times. Baden goes to the park for about an hour or more every day which includes playing with other dogs or play fetch. on the days he dosnt go to the park, I take him on about 40 minuet walks and later that evening we play fetch indoors or a good game of chase.

but now my poor boy seems to be getting bored :/ even with his food, he dosnt want to eat it unless hes starving. like he needs something to break routine but unfortunately i live in small town and the good places to go are about 40 minuets away such as Sacramento or Roseville. with gas being so expensive i cant afford to take him every day.  so what are some things you do with your corgis to get them to perk up and keep them happy? :)

I am from your area as well & have been wanting to take my pup to the park, but I read bad reviews about the dog park. What is your take on it?? My corgi just turned 9 months and he is full of energy!! The only thing that seems to tire him out is when he plays with his brother (mini dachshund). I even go as far as to run in full sprinting circles with him outside to tire him out.

The other day he wiggled out of his collar and I chased him for a good 15 minutes around the neighborhood!! He doesn't like playing fetch with me. He will only go after an object if his brother is going after it. Lol dogs!

im so glad u got him back ok! but  wow your right near me (Yuba city)  the dog park used to be really nice but the mower broke so its starting to get over grown :/ which leaves only this dirt patch for them to play it so they get so dirty but the good part about it is its huge! and theres a trail that goes all the way around so u can walk instead of just sit there.

Maybe arrange play dates with friends and their dogs - or an occasional visit to doggy day care? Another idea is teaching your dog some tricks - that will tire him out mentally. A few 10-15 minute sessions each day.

do u know some fairly easy tricks for him to learn? he really needs motivation to learn a trick lol

I bought a book on Amazon, 101 dog tricks! However, the ones Bogart knows are:
Paw (shake) - first one, then the other
Touch (touch the palm of your hand) both hands
Spin (from standing position he twirls around twice)
Sit
Down
Crawl
Get the paper (his favorite trick!) I use just a section of newspaper and roll it tight and twist it so it stays rolled, and is easier for him to pick up.
He also knows Get the ball, and get the toy (like a stuffed toy)
Another favorite is with the tennis ball, I will bounce it to him and he catches it, we can do that "all day"

How about agility classes?   I also agree that some training or other mental exercise will settle him down, probably more than just trying to burn off the physical energy.

i have looked into that but unfortunately there are no agility classes near me. the closest one is 1hr and 15mins away. he would really love it though, i just wish they had one closer. he will do anything to make u happy

If you have the room you could get a starter agility course (tunnel, jump, table which you could make if you have the means, and weave poles) and perhaps just get him slowly into them. I'm not sure if there are YouTube helpers or good books, but it's a start.

Hide and seek in the house! Maybe one of those toys that dispenses food one kibble at a time.... or find a class you would both enjoy!

aw he loves hide and seek! its one of our favorites :)) the food dispenser is a good idea. i remember how much teddy loved them so im sure he will too

Any kind of training classes, like obiediance or trick training or agility.  If you excersize their little brains they calm down and are more content afterwards.  Still go for walks and the park and all, but add in some mental excersize and you'll have a happier pup.  I've recently started learning tracking with Jeli.  Its amazing how that wears her out.  I guess the mental process of tracking a scent is exhausting.  And she loves it!

theres an idea! sometimes theres no one at the park so theres something to do. how would u do that? like drag something on the ground and tell him to find it?
