Hi fellow corgi lovers! Gutie is almost fourteen weeks old now (I can't believe it) and he's already 15 pounds! Is that normal? The vet said he's in great condition but after reading others' posts about corgi weight I feel as though he's a monster!

Thank you for the info! He's just going to be a big boy I think, because when he stands you can see his waistline and feel his ribs without prodding. He's 3.5lbs bigger than his female litter mate, who was 11lbs at 13 weeks and he was 14.5lbs at 13 weeks. My breeder informed me that he'll increase about a pound a week and hit anywhere between 25-35lbs depending on his body's willingness to just keep growing!

Wouldn't a healthy weight correlate with the size of his frame? Stand back and look at him while he's standing quietly: he should have a "waistline" behind his rib cage, not a doggy beer belly, and you should be able to feel his ribs without having them stick out.

Cassie is about 8 years old and weighs 21 pounds. Ruby is about 17 months and now weighs about 20 pounds; the breeder said her dogs tend to be fairly small, and so I think these two will be about the same when Ruby is fully filled out. From what I've been told some corgis can be significantly large. Male dogs may be larger than females, and Cardigans are larger than Pembrokes.

Thanks for the comments! His mom was small but his dad was big so I'm guessing he's just taking after his daddy. His sister, of which we see weekly, is about 11lbs at 15 weeks.

My corgi is 15 weeks and she is around 11 pounds.Maybe he is just going to be a "bigger" boy. I had a corgi years ago and she was shorter in length and width than the one I have now.

I've never had a corgi pup but as Jane said he could just be a big corgi.  Max goes between 35-37 lbs and that is a good weight for him.  He is on the BIG side of normal.  He has huge paws to go with it.  I've seen pictures of his father and he was a big corgi also.

No, it's not "normal" but I had a pup once that was just huge...I don't remember what his nickname was BUT he turned out to be just  on the big side of "normal". So he might just be like my pup and big to start with.
