Hi so call me a crazy mom but today tucker woke up just fine and now his stomach is swollen like maybe he is constipated but he's not eaten any more than he normally does and he is still drinking fine. What could be going on and is there anything I can do for him if he is constipated? Thank you :)

A similar thing happened to me -- Bertie Wooster ate his dinner and then suddenly his stomach looked huge. He also acted like he was uncomfortable -- restless, wanted to go out, come back in, hopped in the back seat of the car and didn't want to come out (which I interpreted as "take me somewhere and fix this!"). I called the vet, who lives around the corner, and he came by my house. I was afraid it might be bloat, which can be life threatening, but he listened to his tummy (which had normal gurgling digestive noises, which was good) etc. (Bertie was not showing other bloat symptoms, fortunately) and said either he had a tummy virus or he had just eaten fast and swallowed air and had gas. He was explaining to me that until he was sure which it was he didn't want to blindly treat him, when Bertie let loose the loudest, smelliest fart I have ever heard/smelled. Sure enough, he just had terrible gas. The vet gave me some antacid for him, told me to walk him around to help work it out, and time would do the rest. We had a very gross, smelly, farty night -- but he was right as rain in the AM. However, I am still glad I contacted the vet to rule out bloat. Can you give yours a call?
Like Susan said..gas or bloat. You must monitor him. Massage his belly to try to get him to relieve the gas and gas x can be administered. Take a pin to the pill and squeeze some of it on his tongue. Best to always check w/your vet.
well i called the emergency vet and told him his symptoms and they don't seem to think it's bloat. they told me to watch him for a couple more hours and see if it changes and if so to give them a call back. He is acting like his normal self running and playing and has had 3 bowel movements today and as we speak he is running around like a mad man, but he is still has a swollen tummy. Maybe its just gas like in humans and needs some time time work its way out. If there are anymore ideas let me know!

Thanks
I've noticed some dog food brands are changing formulas to keep food cheap but it doesn't have the right balance of protein and calories and things like that. A breeder friend of mine came across this with purina brand where her puppies were getting bloated bellies. She switched food and the bloat went away.
How's the baby tummy?
