Hello.
Mi corgi mix has an allergy that I can not figure out. I give her treats and food that have limited ingredients (no wheat, grain, etc.), but she still bites at her paws. The food I give her is Natural Balance wet and dry.

to natalie and lance:
shiba has been on a diet to rule out if its food allergies or not. she is not allergic to food. right now she is on pro plan wet food and dry food because she is a very picky eater.

to bev levy:
i dont doubt that shiba is allergic to something else. from the beginning i thought she was allergic to grass. its just the vets always say fleas and i agree that when she has one on her she freaks out. but i think she needs to be tested in order to be sure. where did you get sparty tested? a vet or a dermatologist?

It may not just be fleas. Sparty is highly allergic to them but he is also allergic to thistle, grass, house dust, and dandelions. Actually the list was three pages long. We had him allergy tested and he gets a monthly allergy shot and occasionally has to have prednisone. He has been like this about 8 years and does very well.

are you completely sure its a flea allergy and not a food allergy? If it is fleas you have to make sure to vaccum very carefully the rooms and clean really well so that they dont have a chance to keep mulitplying. What kind of food is she on?

shibas allergic to fleas and i'm sure a lot of other corgis have the same problem. shes about 2 years old and I still havent found a solution. I've been to the vet with my parents at least 10+ times and theyre very tired of paying medical fees especially when none of the products work.
a list of things tried already are:
frontline
relief shampoo
relief spray
genesis spray
clavomox w/ nutrients
advantage
a skin scraping that turned out she didnt have anything wrong.
several other medications that i'm sure never worked and prednisone...the one thing that did work but is dangerous to continue giving to your pet. All of this was prescribed by banfield and howell branch veterinarians. My parents became fed up with banfield because they kept prescribing the clavomox that didnt do anything. so now shiba isnt on anything and her allergies are probably the worst they have ever been. she cant walk outside the door without having to tear her butt hairs out. i have to stick my hand in her mouth to make her stop! its horrible and my parents and i can get so fed up with her. but we wont give up. now that ive come across this website i'm hoping there are people out there with a solution.

yesterday i went in the chatroom and was kindly greeted by sam tsang and he recommended comfortis and capstar. if i can drag my parents back to the vet AGAIN i will definitely try these. he also recommended foggers but my parents didnt like the idea. :/

please please please! i need as many recommendations as possible!

my corgi hanna has a small amount of allergies, but our cairn terrier has serve allergies.Food allergies and seasonal allergies as well as she seems to be at her worst at the same time as mine are. she would lose hair on her feet and bottom and around her eyes as well as get scabes all over her. we have a whole cabinet full of stuff and she still had to get shots every four weeks plus bendryl.
we switched their food to chicken soup for dog lovers (which has no corn or wheat) and cherrios instead of dog bisquits. and all natural Extra strength NEEM oil and rx oatmeal pet spray and a bath every couple of days with an oatmeal shampoo and went to all tile, she has not had to have a shot in over six months. If she starts chewing I put the oil on and it's gone by the next day

Maxie has allergies as well as a weight problem she is on an Nutro Choice food for less active overweight dogs, I also use the salmon oil and she is on an antihistamine from the vet and 3 V Caps which seems to help. And usually once a monce she gets a bath with a teatree oil shampoo that seems soothing and helps as well.

Opal is allergic to grass...the vet said it is a mild but she prefers pavement, woodchips, and dirt over grass. When the grass gets long she runs on it like hot lava. I've been keeping the grass cut short, whipping her paws when she comes inside, and I created a path around the yard for her to walk on. This has all helped.

Winnie has chronic allergies- a lot of scratching and biting at her flanks/hind area. I didn't want her injected with more steroids and give her more Medrol so we took her to see a homeopath for the first time and her put her on several remedies. Her allergies may be food related so I'll have to start adjusting what meats she eats.

My corgi is allergic to everythihng, he is always chewing on himself and scratching, we now have him on antihistamines, special food, and I bath him every 3 days, which seems to be making a big difference.
