Does anyone know if the Herding Instinct Test is more like a competition? I would like to take Penne to a herding event, but she's never been to one before so she probably doesn't know what to do (nor do I). Are there places around the bay area where she could go to "experience" herding in a non-competitive atmosphere?

hi Guys! We are so glad to have met SO many of you at the dog park yesterday! Look out for photos. They will be posted on Benny's blog in the next few days. =)
Many thanks to the dogs and their pawsome owners for letting us take pictures!

I have been to the fair grounds, absolutely beautiful. We go there in Sept for the Draft Horse Classic. That is something to see if you ever get the chance :)
Thought I was going to make this Sat at Shoreline, but my girl friend broke her leg (got bucked off a horse) and I will be her Taxi service for the day. Hope to make next month.

If anyone else is in the Nevada City/Grass Valley/Penn Valley/Auburn area (or doesn't mind a little driving), there's going to be a dog show at the Nevada County Fairgrounds this weekend, and an AnimalSave benefit next weekend. I'll be at both with Honey, Hooch, and my border collie Hana, too, and would be so happy to see some other corgis at either or both! The Nevada County Fairgrounds is a really lovely fairgrounds and worth the drive, too. :) If anyone sees two corgis (one red and white, one black-headed tri, and both small for corgis) and a border collie, please come say hello!

Note to everyone! Meetup THIS Saturday (August 29th) at 10:00 a.m., small dog side, at Shoreline Dog Park in Mountain View! I will be there, with my cardigan Frodo :) See you there! (We have it on the 3rd Saturday, and the rare 5th Saturday as well....)

Glad you enjoyed it! I've never been able to make any meetups but the south bay one, because of the pet therapy work I do. My corgi is NOT a therapy dog, but the cats are therapy cats. Go figure. :)

Thanks for the info. We went on Saturday and it was a lot of fun. It was so funny and cute watching them play. They were chasing/herding the bigger dogs that would come by. I think it freaked out the big dogs a little to have all these corgis chasing them. They ran off with their tails between their legs. LOL!

Yes, there is! I don't attend since I do pet therapy today with my cats....

It's at 1 p.m.! Hope you get this in time, and go have fun!
