Hi! Sorry it took so long to respond! I don't use this website very much. Personally, I was much more comfortable giving Mei anti-anxiety medications for her first few trips. I've seen dogs fly without medications and they whine, wail, bark, etc. When I gave her the meds, she was scared but much calmer than she would have been without. Nowadays, she flies without taking the medication and she's fine. I know that some dogs have a problem with peeing and pooping in the crate, so remember to walk your pup before putting her in. Some people put a lot of newspaper in the crate for them to use as a bed/absorbant for accidents. Oh! And remember to test out the medication a few days before flying just to make sure she doesn't have any adverse reactions to the meds. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
