I am curious and would like to know what people have a paid to have their dog shipped. I will not ship my pups so I am thinking of taking a vacation but will be delivering a dog and so I would ask for the same rate as having one shipped. This would be from Minnesota to North Carolina. Thanks!

Don't know about shipping but if you are in our area of North Carolina please stop. We have a boat to enjoy some time on the lake and some very comfy extra beds. Plus two corgis that love visitors, especially corgi people
Right now it's between $250 and $300. And, for what it's worth, I think corgis tolerate being shipped VERY well. I have had three shipped to me and I've shipped four, and it went flawlessly. When I was breeding Danes I didn't like to ship puppies because they're such infants at 8 weeks. Corgis are much more mature and philosophical about stuff and they don't get as stressed. They come out of the crate wagging and kissing.
I am thinking it would be too hot right now to ship also and since we were going someplace we could make a little spending $$$$$ plus visit Roger/Laurie!
If you are wanting to take a vacation anyway, then by all means, however, if you are worried about heat, you wouldn't need to be if you shipped Continental. They have a "Pet Safe" plan and unlike other airlines that have black out dates for weather, Continental does not because they have people whose sole job is to care for the animals and taxi them out to the plane at the last minute. I've had some issues with the pet hotline from time to time but whenever I talk to the people who actually care for the pets it's very clear they are doing everything possible to keep them safe and well cared for. So, basically, the puppy would never be sitting on the plane in the heat, but would be inside with the staff until right before the plane leaves and then taken out to the plane.
We had Sami shipped and it was about $300 or so. We had bought a receiving blanket that we all sat on slept with to get our scents on it then mailed that to Wendy who put it in with the litter and Momma dog. This was placed in with Sami when she was shipped. She came out of the crate and already knew us by our scent. Even though we are going to get the next one from Wendy we will do the same thing with a baby blanket.
Great idea about sending the blanket...thanks as I have 2 other dogs leaving for out of state on the 17th and will ask them to send a blanket or such, I have always sent one with but love the idea of having one ahead of time!
I'm assuming is one way? Will you be flying with the pup in cabin or pup alone in cargo?

One way in cabin Jetblue is $100, you must have a sherpa bag and the combine weight cannot exceed 20lbs, My best friend now flys for Jetblue and he said they do fly MN to NC.

There is a Summer Pet Embargo right now for all animals traveling cargo, that applies to both flying from and to the southern states. Last year we had to take the earliest flight in the morning and that was in September in Florida. Price is what Joanna already stated excluding the cost of an airline approved crate.
We'll be driving and maybe bringing a dog along. We had a trip planned for that week already we'll just be heading in the opposite direction!
We had Rocky shipped from Indiana to Rhode Isalnd & it was $215.00 for flight & crate. This was in October 2009.
I had Romeo shipped on Delta. It was $231 from Tennessee to California. He tolerated it amazingly well! He was 12 weeks at the time and they put an article of their clothing and a familiar toy in the crate for him. I think it helped! As Joanna said.... lol He came out of his crate wagging and kissing!!!
