I lost my best friend this past Saturday. Cowboy was in really bad shape and it was time. I took him to the vet and held him close and he died in my arms. Words cannot even begin to express the pain and hurt and loss that I'm feeling. I can't even bring myself to take out his bed or food bowls or toys out of my house. I would give anything in the world to have my dog back. To everyone who has best friend out there hug them close and tell them how much you love them because they're not here for that long. I know that Cowboy is at Rainbow Bridge waiting for me, but I want so much to be selfish and have him back here with me. I'm not sure if I will ever want a little pooch again after going through this much pain. It hurts something awful. It feels like I'm truly missing a piece of my heart. I love you Cowboy.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a much-loved cat over the winter, and what I was not prepared for was how physical the loss would be. I would have given anything to just stroke her one last time. Time does heal, and I wasn't sure how soon I would want another cat (or if I would want another one) but was surprised at how quickly I was ready. We are all different in that regard. To me, I just needed a cat in the house.

Cowboy was well-loved, and that is what all of us hope for in life. Big hugs.

The hardest thing that I had to do was hold my Max as the vet sent him to rainbow bridge. I remember holding him and then saying "he's gone isn't he". It was so difficult and I know how you feel. Sorry for your loss of cowboy, hold him in your thoughts and dreams forever.

We are so sorry for your loss of Cowboy! :( Dogs come into our lives, leave pawprints on our hearts, and we are forever changed. You are so brave to help Cowboy on his way the way you did. Sending you healing thoughts and light!

I am so sorry!!! I lost my first baby "Q", on Palm sunday of this year, he was only 6. I still have all his toys and bowls, they're in a box with his name on them. I couldn't sleep, eat, anything. I miss him so terribly, time will heal of course, but it never makes it any easier at first. The pic on my profile is me when I got Corky, I couldn't function without a Corgi in my life, doubt I ever can again. Maybe eventually you will want to get another dog to honor Cowboy's memory, but it's ok to always cry for your missing child. I'm tearing up remembering Q just writing this to you, please know that many of us have been through this and it will pass, the love and memories you have will always be there, but definately keep his things, when you're ready, pick them up and put them in a box so you can look at them later. My thoughts and prayers for comfort will be with you

I am so sorry for your loss! You gave Cowboy the greatest gift you could by letting him die in your arms...that is so unselfish and caring even though it is hard but accepting it was time is truelly important for him! You could also see him at peace! I don't know why I am sitting here crying but know we are thinking of you and know how hard your loss is! Eventually your memories will be easier and you can move on like Cowboy would want you to! Take the time to mourn and then you will be able to have all those great memories of him forever in your heart! Take care!!!!!

We are very sorry about your loss. It does hurt so much and it is ok to never "get over it" or "move on" (as well meaning people will say) (although I find neither statement very kind)
He was your pet and loyal companion and you are missing a piece of your heart. You will pack up his things when you are ready, there is no time limit!!
In the meantime, we are sending you wet kisses........Rogan & Ginger and Suzy the "human"
