Lucy wasn't blocked for very long, maybe 36 hours. Nothing showed up on xray, but I knew something was wrong because she.... was lethargic, didn't bark, didn't want ANY food, was painful in her abdomen, and wasn't defecating. Since her bloodwork was normal, I opted to go ahead with surgery. The string and cotton/tissue she got from my bathroom trashcan. The pieces of black rubber I don't know where it came from as I don't have any toys that look like that. She has to have an incision in her stomach and two incisions in her intestines. Fortunately, she wasn't blocked long because string is one of the most deadly foreign bodies. It pulls the intestines together, bunches them, then cuts through. She is still not wanting to eat but is acting a little bit more comfortable so I am encouraged. I will keep you guys posted and I am so disappointed I couldn't come to the party. Lucy and Rosebud would have loved to come. Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Oh Avery! I am so sorry to hear about Lucy. Once she is on the mend, let us know what you think happened. She will be in our thoughts until then.

Lucy has had two emergency exploratory surgeries in the past 48 hours. She was blocked with 3 pieces of rubber, cotton, and a string. Please keep her in your thoughts as she hopefully recovers. She is a pretty sick little girl right now.
